An Important Update.
This is a difficult post to write, but I want to share some important news with my amazing customers. Many of you know that alongside running this business, I am also a mom to Jonny, who was diagnosed with a rare metabolic condition called OTC deficiency when he was just 10 months old. For years, we have managed his condition with a strict low-protein diet and an overwhelming amount of medication. Despite frequent hospital visits, he remained stable—until January 2024, when everything changed.
In the past year alone, Jonny has endured seven hospital admissions, 40 pills a day, and seven syringes spread across four times daily—yet his condition continues to spiral out of control. We explored every option, including gene therapy trials, but after hitting too many roadblocks, it became clear that the best chance for Jonny’s future is a liver transplant.
As a result, I will be winding down custom orders in the coming weeks so I can focus on my family and be present for every step of this journey. I am beyond grateful for all of your support over the years—your orders, your kind words, and your encouragement have meant the world to me.
What’s Next?
On March 3rd, we will be meeting with Jonny’s medical team at SickKids to have what will be our hardest conversation yet. From there, we are confident we will move forward with officially listing Jonny for a liver transplant.
We will also begin the process of determining whether we, as his parents, are eligible to be his living donor. If neither of us is a match, we will be turning to our family, friends, and community to consider this life-saving gift. A living donor offers the best possible outcome for Jonny, and it also means saving two lives—Jonny’s, and another patient on the transplant list who would receive the deceased donor liver that Jonny’s high ranking would otherwise take.
Jonny’s blood type is A, meaning he needs a donor with blood type O or A, between the ages of 16-60, and with a BMI under 35.
I will be sharing more information about becoming a donor soon, but in the meantime, if you’d like to follow Jonny’s journey and stay updated, please consider joining his page here: https://www.facebook.com/share/15mVPz1Ffw/?mibextid=wwXIfr
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for understanding, for supporting my small business, and for keeping Jonny in your thoughts. This isn’t goodbye, just a pause while we focus on what matters most—giving Jonny the best chance at a healthy, happy life.
With love and gratitude,
Danielle
