And our final 'Disdained' cast member is Marlaine Ramoodith.

Marlaine Ramoodith is an actor and artist thrilled to be playing Shivani in DISDAINED. She is so grateful to be working once again with the phenomenal playwright Abhimanyu Acharya. Her recent credits include BOUNDARIES (2021, 2022) and BRING IT ON: THE MUSICAL (2022). Marlaine is currently pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Minor in French Studies at Western University. She would like to thank her family and friends for all their love and support, her mentors for their guidance, and her crew and castmates (past and present) for their excellence and inspiration. She hopes you enjoy the performance of this intriguing, unapologetically South Asian work.

Marlaine will be playing the role of Shivani in 'Disdained'.

Shivani is intelligent, Independent, Strong, and Charming. She is also aware that she is all of that, contributing to the inflation of her ego. Doesn't take crap from anyone. Can be mean at times.

Introducing Shriyanshi Quanoongo as our next cast member from 'Disdained'.

Shriyanshi is an emerging actor mainly in the field of stage, theatre, and drama. She is a high school artist, singer and performer pursuing her studies mainly in Drama & Theatre.

For the past 3 to 4 years, she has actively participated in many theatre events both in and outside of school. Whether it be online or in-person, she is always looking for different opportunities to improve her acting skills. She is a consistent learner and during recent years she worked with many Theatre productions polishing her performing skills. This time with First Step Theatre, she got a chance to be a part of their upcoming production “Disdained” and is super excited for this project.

Shriyanshi will be playing the role of 'Shweta' in 'Disdained'.

Shweta is caring and kind. She is prudish, but with certain desperation to break free. Trapped in a toxic cycle with her parents, and somehow traps Mutthu in that toxicity. She feels guilty and scared.

Our next 'Disdained' cast member is Coleton Dénommé.

Coleton is a French-Canadian actor, writer, and director, Coleton honed his craft within the BFA - Acting program at the University of Windsor, and is delighted to be making his return to theatre in the wake of the pandemic.

He would like to thank the cast and the First Steps team, and he promises you will see his name again soon. “Nothing beside remains.”

Coleton will be playing 'Michael' is 'Disdained'.

Michael is artistic, assertive, Sarcastic, Bohemian, Carefree. Can come across as arrogant, obnoxious, and snobbish. Trying to reconnect with his closest friends. Being away has certainly changed him in ways none of them understand, including himself.

Introducing our first cast member - Guru.

Guru is from the 'City of Dreams' aka Mumbai. He is an actor and poet, and was closely associated with Prithvi Theatre and few theatre groups in Mumbai. He has been a part of various plays, street plays, poetry sessions and theatre festivals like Thespo.

Hindi Shorts in 2018 with SAWITRI Theatre group was his Canadian stage debut as an actor. And since then, he has been a part of various plays and productions of Sawitri Theatre Group, The Hive Theatre, Mehar Canada and Satrang Theatre Fest which were all staged in GTA.

Acting, poetry, travel and food feed his soul and he keeps sharing about these on Instagram .

Guru will be playing the role of 'Shekar'.

Shekar is good hearted, kind but meek. Being a q***r man in India has traumatized him, and he wears his heart up his sleeves. The peacemaker in the group. If two of his friends fight, they probably would ask him to referee the match. Fair and objective.

First Steps Theatre has teamed up with 'Boundaries' playwright, Abhimanyu Acharya, once again to develop his newest work; 'Disdained'.

Synopsis:
Amidst the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, four estranged friends reunite over during lockdown to mourn the passing of their childhood friend, Mutthu. As they discuss the circumstances leading up to his death and each friend begins to reveal their last encounters with Mutthu, they find out that maybe time doesn't heal all wounds.

We cannot thank everyone enough for supporting our show at the London Fringe Festival! We are so thankful for all the raving reception we received for BOUNDARIES and believe this team deserved it well.

We thank our audiences who came out to see the show making us the 2nd highest selling show of the entire festival!

We thank the incredible team, , .riz_, , .ram, for all the hard work they did to bring this show to life as beautifully and brilliantly as it was. This show was subtle and ingeniously written, skillfully envisioned, and brought to life by being funny, thoughtful and grabbed the hearts and minds of audiences.
