Hello to all are Home Routes concert goers, followers and Friends.
Today would have been our wind up concert with Andy Cohen and a potluck.
🎊Congratulations to Bob Day, winner of the wine glasses, collection of CDs and homemade chocolates courtesy of MMM Chocolate.
We want to thank everyone who has supported Home Routes in Lloydminster over the last 5 years.
After some soul-searching and discussions we have decided not to continue as Home Routes hosts. Hopefully someone will be interested in continuing this program in Lloydminster.
P.S. We hope to host occasional concerts in our home outside of the Home Routes series and hope that you will be able to attend. All the best.
Hal and Rhonda.

[Winnipeg, March 20, 2020] Home Routes/ Chemin Chez Nous is keeping the music alive by presenting our Season 13 Artists’ concerts online, via Facebook live and YouTube, in place of the previously scheduled tours. Having to cancel the balance of our Season 13 tours due to COVID-19 left our artists, hosts and patrons wondering what we could do to continue to support and entertain, so we decided to bring the artists digitally to our patrons and to an even larger audience, instead of canceling the shows.

“To support artists and bring fresh entertainment to folks during this time was an obvious win/win, and doing live streaming concerts has been something we have been talking about for a while, so we decided that this was the perfect time to launch it,” says Artistic Director Tim Osmond. “Rick Fines was one of our pioneering artists in our very first season in 2007, so it’s only fitting that he kick off our online version too!”

Instead of touring from house to house, we will present an artist nightly on Home Routes / Chemin Chez Nous page - presenting a National Folk Festival online. Audiences will be treated to performers who were previously booked by Home Routes to tour rural and urban areas of Canada, and to date we have confirmed the schedule until Apr 1st. Additional programming is being confirmed to continue these shows beyond the Apr 1 date, and will be announced as schedules are finalized. The schedule of performers is below, all shows start at 8pm CT, and run for 30 minutes. So gather your family, your pizza, your storm chips and get ready to enjoy an evening of Canadian Folk music and stories, from our home, to yours.

For financial support in these difficult times, our performers will be sharing a ‘tip jar” during their live concert, so viewers can “pay what they want.” By adding this virtual tip jar it will be easy for anyone to support. Home Routes has been pairing artists with rural and urban hosts throughout Canada for more than a decade, presenting more than 7000 performances at nearly 1500 locations before 207,000 fans to date, generating more than four million dollars in artist revenue and royalties since its beginnings in 2007.

About Home Routes / Chemin Chez Nous

Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous was initiated by the founders of the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the West End Cultural Centre, Mitch Podolak and Ava Kobrinsky in collaboration with Tim Osmond and with the support of a nationally based volunteer Board of Directors. Home Routes was incorporated as a not-for-profit arts organization in February of 2007 to create new performance opportunities for French and English speaking musicians and audiences in rural, remote, and urban communities across Canada, hosted by volunteers in their homes and other community venues.

Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous circuit helps artists to overcome the cost barriers of traveling long distances. Our innovative model offers a viable and lasting alternative to the traditional relationship between artist and presenter because it marries the needs of both into one dynamic program. Artists pay their own transportation costs and the hosts put them up and feed them all along the circuits. We provide the artist with a tour itinerary that has directions and all the contact info required for a detailed touring schedule.

Since its inception in 2007, Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous has received consistent funding from the Canada Council for the Arts, Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage, FACTOR, Manitoba Arts Council, and SOCAN Foundation for which we are eternally grateful. Without this support this wonderful project would not be possible.

Hi everyone
The April 25 concert has been cancelled as well
Note from Home Routes is as follows:

I think we all can agree things are shifting towards self-isolation and likely even more so in a month’s time, we are officially cancelling the remainder of the 13th season including tours from Apr 23 – May 6, 2020.

It’s a very hard decision to make but when considering the health and well-being of our hosts, artists and audience in the Home Routes community, things become very clear that we must do our part to protect each other during this crisis.

First and foremost, we must band together to help these artists who are not only losing their Home Routes tour, but pretty much every gig and source of income they rely on to put food on the table. We will be reaching out to them to reschedule for next season, but there are also many ways to support them in the absence of attending concerts. Our collective mailing lists can do wonders for generating interest and revenue online to make up for lost income.

We encourage you to spread the word to your audience to buy albums and merchandise, take lessons, and consider donating the $20 ticket they would have spent attending the concert.

Home Routes is looking into setting up a National Folk Festival – Online, where these artists can live stream their performances in a ‘pay-what-you-can’ model. We’re currently researching platforms that are accessible, easy to use and reasonably priced. With any luck, we’ll still have all of these artists into your living room within the next couple weeks, just through your computer monitor, phone, iPad, or Smart TV.

Please share with your friends. Thanks
Rhonda and Hal.

Hi everyone
March 27 concert has been cancelled
Note from Home Routes is as follows

In the spirit of being a community focused organization we must do everything to preserve the health and safety of our community members. We are making an official announcement to cancel the Mar 25-Apr 6 tour.

We will decide in a week or so what to do about the last tour, Apr 23-May 6, 2020 but it will be based on what comes next. Nobody really knows right now.

The recent virus situation has caused a number of our hosts and artists to either cancel their remaining shows with us or question whether or not they will be feasible, wondering if there will even be an audience.

Please share with your friends. Thanks
Rhonda and Hal.

Home Routes Concerts at The Burns Residence

Welcome to the Chautauqua Trail (SK/AB) Home Routes Concert Series, hosted by Hal & Rhonda Burns.

Hal & Rhonda Burns have been opening their home to the community and touring Folk-Roots artists for Home Routes since 2015. Their love of music and desire to see quality artist’s play locally in their community has brought neighbours together for many memorable evenings. These home concerts are not ones to be missed!

House concerts are just what they sound like, a complete concert performance with professional musicians located directly in the biggest room of your house – Hal & Rhonda host artists in their great room, lower living room or their beautiful backyard!

Over time you will be exposed at close range to some of the finest professional folk-roots musicians from North America and around the world. If you love music, this is the perfect way to hear it... up-close and personal, hearing artist’s stories in an intimate show.
