Thanks, Diane Munro for the tip! I wasn't happy with how this painting ended up so I went back at it to add more snow with the "toothbrush technique" you suggested ( after I googled it). 😀 I also brightened up the tree trail markers so they would pop, and the beech leaves that were still hanging on! (Marcescence). Much better! 😅

"The Trail awaits", finished. 😊 My spray bottle technique for the snow is a little more uneven than I wanted. It's harder than you think to get consistent droplet size with a spray! Something to work on, LoL!

Back to acrylics! How nice to be able to do a winter scene "plein air" by just looking out my windows. I used s'graffito technique for the background. (Work in progress. )

A couple of posts that had to wait until after Christmas as they were gifts! 😀 Mia and Xavier, who have crossed over the rainbow bridge. This was a commission gift for their Mom. It is always rewarding to create a memory of someone's beloved pet.

Made good progress on Kion over this rainy weekend! I love how the face seems to emerge from the paper as it is completed. Always the best part in completing a portrait.

After literally not touching a pastel or pencil for over ten months because I was busy with the new house build, yesterday I finally felt inspired enough to resume this project again. Painting for me is something that is very much dependent on inspiration and feeling. I have to be in a certain frame of mind. Living in the woods and walking every day in nature has been inspiring, and calling me back to what I love to do most, create paintings of animals and nature!
This is "Kion", a commission for a family member. It is very much a work in progress, but I am happy to be back at work on it! 😀

Thanks to the Lion's Head Library for posting some of my work from June 4 - August 14. They rotate pieces of art from the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists members every 2 months. Great way to get your art out there and seen!
