Interested in teaching Indigenous Art Studio courses at the UofL? The Faculty of Fine Arts (Piiksinaasin) is seeking sessional instructors for the Winter 2025 term.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate their ability to teach the course(s) through a combination of education, training, and artistic experience. Candidates should demonstrate that their artistic practice is located within Indigenous worldviews, methodologies, epistemologies, and/or material practices and must demonstrate that they can teach and mentor students engaged in a range of art practices, with a range of levels of experience. Preferred candidates will demonstrate strong connections to Blackfoot culture, artistic practices, language, and/or community.

Paid summer job with the BDL! Get paid and course credit!

This position will be of interest to a Blackfoot student who is interested in working with historical documents and media as well as other elements of Blackfoot culture alongside its originator. The work is a part of a year-long project to revitalize the Blackfoot Digital Library and will result in the student making a large contribution to this vital community resource. Work will include such things as performing inventories, applying appropriate metadata, adding content, updating audio and video files, and adding new forms of documentation.

Your work will become a part of this long-term project to assist in the process of Blackfoot knowledge renewal and transmission. ~Summer Employment Opportunity!~ Research and Program Assistant

The University of Lethbridge Art Gallery/Mootookakio'ssin has a paid summer job opening for a post-secondary student inspired by Cultural Research and Programs, and eager to learn new skills. We’re looking for a Research and Program Assistant to work in three related areas of focus:

1. Mootookakio’ssin (Blackfoot Objects Digital Imaging Project) Outreach – to assist with researching information to support content on the Mootookakio’ssin website and with developing community engagement programs to youth in Blackfoot Reserves or Blackfoot urban agencies.

2. Mootookakio’ssin Website & social media content – to be involved with creation and content management for the website and social media promotion for the Mootookakio’ssin Project.

3. Indigenous content development for Youth Art Camps 2023 – to work with the Summer Art Camps Team to create and lead Indigenous and Blackfoot specific art activities for area youth over July & August.

This position is significantly supported by the Young Canada Works (YCW) program.
