Imagine telling your doctor you are exhausted, run down, at the end of your rope — and the doctor writes you a prescription for three weeks at a spa in the mountains.
In Germany, that is a real thing. It is called a Kur.
For generations, German doctors have prescribed stays at health resorts — thermal baths, mountain air, walks, therapy, proper rest — with the insurance covering most of the cost. Whole towns exist for this purpose. You can spot them by the word in their name: Bad. Bad Kissingen. Bad Nauheim. Bad Reichenhall. "Bad" means bath.
Americans get told to push through. Germans get sent to the mountains.
Who else could use three weeks in the mountains right about now?
