Project: When Life Gives Your Lemon Waters
Written and Directed by Darcy J Knopp
Synopsis: Ben's ship has finally come in. He is almost guaranteed a national commercial which will allow him to finally quit his job as a server at the Bull's Eye Steakhouse. His best friend Paige would be happy for him, if it weren't for her killer hangover. His ex-Taylor is jealous at his good fortune, as she is still stuck in her unfulfilling career, and her floundering love life. Life throws Ben a curve-ball and all three end up working on a dreaded Sunday night. The boss is on their case because head office is in restaurant doing a corporate evaluation, the bartender might be a Danish spy, and worst of all the theatre club is in for dinner and they brought their coupons! Will anyone survive the night?
ROLES:
BEN: (20-35yo) An actor who pays the rent with restaurant work. He had hoped to make it big before now, but better late than never, right?
PAIGE: (20-35yo) Mostly dysfunctional at her job, (and life, really) Stays employed because the job is one of the few that doesn't interfere with her hobbies (i.e. liquor and strip clubs)
TAYLOR: (20-35yo) She is smart. She is pretty. She is bitter. She is an adult stuck in 2nd gear.
SHEILA: (35-50yo) A two-faced demon disguised as a restaurant manager. No one likes her because her perception of reality is warped.
Audition Notes:
Actors will be given a cold read of a scene from the script and paired up with a scene partner.
The Siloam Festival is a 10 day event from July 18-27 featuring original works from local playwrights hosted by the Langley Little Theatre.
