Male Hairy woodpecker ( Leuconotopicus villosus ).
The size difference between a Downy and Hairy woodpecker is quite remarkable considering they look almost exactly alike, and have similar personalities.

While photographing this fellow, I was reminded how therapeutic photography, and simply being out in nature can be for mental health.

Thinking about the excitement of a new adventure, wildlife you have never seen in person, or just the breath taking moments of nature's beauty, All this can lead us to healthier state of mind, we just have to get out there.....its free! and your mind can be free and clear.

The most important part is getting out and enjoying yourself, the results may surprise you. 😊

Downy Woodpecker ( Picoides pubescens ).

The modeling duo, pretty sure these two were married, yaking back and forth 😂 with a couple times me questioning my presence lol.
Nonetheless beautiful birds on a beautiful day 😊.

With it being almost the end of November we are still being blessed with some really beautiful days, allowing us to capture some great photos of the beautiful birds that winter here in Alberta.

American Red Squirrel ( Tamiasciurus hudsonicus ).
This little Red Squirrel decided to have a feast at dawn in such a great location, overlooking a frozen creek with woodpeckers and many other birds all around. It was such a great setting with the sun just peaking over the hills...it was like I wasn't there, a forest truly alive. 😊
