🔥 THE ART OF SURVIVAL ☀️
Survive is something we all do. Until we don’t.
Across many trials and tribulations, walks of life and leaps of faith, from the macro to micro, the broad strokes and the spaces in between, we all survive something.
Throughout this exhibition, you will find many different explorations of survival, from the abstract to the literal spanning the potentially life-ending to the life-giving.

Rooted in sculpture, but conceptualised as a labyrinth of survival, the members of Kelowna Sculptor’s Network Society envision the exhibition as a gesamtkunstwerk that, while rooted in sculpture, communicates as a whole across multiple mediums.

Community Art Instructor — CONNECT Program
Lake Country Art Gallery | Contract Position

Lake Country Art Gallery is seeking a creative, compassionate and adaptable Community Art Instructor to lead a small weekly art group for adults living with acquired or traumatic brain injury.

The program is delivered in partnership with CONNECT, an organization that supports adults living with acquired brain injury. Through accessible, hands-on artmaking, the program provides participants with an opportunity for creative expression, social connection and meaningful engagement with the arts.

The focus is on creating a welcoming environment where participants can engage with art at their own level and in ways that are meaningful to them. There is no expectation of a particular artistic outcome or level of artistic ability.
The instructor will work with a small group of up to 10 participants. Caregivers and support people may also attend where participants require additional assistance.

🎨 This August, the Lake Country Art House is hosting a children’s art drop-in every Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m.
Each session will feature a different guided workshop related to the current installation in the art gallery.
We’ll meet at the Art House, where all supplies and materials are provided.
$15/children per drop-in.

“How somebody’s junk can be another person’s treasure... and that is my life.” 🎨✨
At the opening reception for Notions of Gathering, artist Amber Powell shared the sentimental story behind the found objects woven into her artwork.
From tiny wooden fish models hand-crafted by her grandfather while bedridden in 1948 to salvaged treasures kept forever in her studio, Amber proves that every collected piece carries a story waiting to be told. 🐟📦
