Russell is a west coast potter who picked up the art first as a teenager, but only seriously when he had the time and space to devote to the craft. He loves the science and the art of pottery, and still enjoys the thrill of opening the kiln to see how his creations worked out. He was a “closet potter” through his working life as a logger, but with retirement, he has thrown open his studio to the p
ublic and enjoys sharing his work with a wide circle of admirers. You will see the Japanese influence in his work – techniques, materials and forms – balanced with a practical west coast aesthetic.
