The workshops will offer introductory drum, guitar and bass guitar lessons. They will be organized for different age groups mostly after school and at convenient locations. A greater diversity of instruments and lessons, such as piano, accordion, voice, and possibly light and audio techniques, might also be offered in the future, depending on available funding, scheduling and resources. The Recrea
tion Department of the Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is responsible for the implementation of the program. Through a social music teaching approach, the Nunavik Rocks Music Program proposes to increase accessibility and interest for music by training local Inuit musicians. The quality and adapted training for small groups of budding Inuit musicians is delivered by instructors and professional musicians under the coordination of the KRG Recreation Department music advisor. According to their individual training, budding Inuit musicians will then share this knowledge within their community by teaching music enthusiasts to play a variety of musical instruments.

Parmi les activités proposées, il y aura des ateliers d’initiation à la batterie, à la guitare et à la guitare basse. Ces ateliers seront organisés à l’intention de différents groupes d’âge, essentiellement après l'école et dans des locaux accessibles aux participants. Une plus grande diversité d’ateliers et d’instruments tels que le piano, l’accordéon, le chant ainsi que les techniques de son et d’éclairage pourraient être offerts selon les fonds et les ressources disponibles. La mise en œuvre de ce programme relève du Service des loisirs de l’Administration Régionale Kativik (ARK). Par son approche sociale de l’enseignement de la musique, le Programme musical du Nunavik propose de rendre plus accessible et d’accroitre l’intérêt des Nunavimmiuts pour la musique. Les ateliers de musique de qualité, adaptés pour de petits groupes de musiciens inuits en herbe, seront offerts des professeurs de musique et des musiciens professionnels sous la supervision du conseiller en musique du Service des loisirs de l’ARK. Selon leur formation, ces musiciens inuit en herbe enseigneront ensuite aux participants intéressés de leur communauté à jouer divers instruments de musique.
