German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus)

German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) The German-Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club (also known as Hubertushaus during Oktoberfest) is the perfect year-round venue to rent for any occasion.

Officially known as the German Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club. During Oktoberfest, our clubhouse is transformed into the Festhall known as Hubertushaus. We are an authentic German Club nestled on eight acres of countryside on the outskirts of Mannheim. The Club's Members originate from all parts of German-speaking areas of Europe and our membership continues with second and third-generation Can

adians. In the 50's, many new Canadians had the desire to spend their leisure time hunting and fishing in their new environment. On January 21st, 1954, a group of thirteen dedicated men decided to form a hunting and fishing club so that they could become more familiar with Canada's wildlife and at the same time contribute to the protection and conservation of her immense natural beauty. Tradition & Culture
From the very beginning, the members strived not only to hunt and fish together but to interact socially as well. The first social function to be established was the Hasenpfeffer. Over the years this was followed by Hunters' Day, Fish Fry, Picnic, Schlachtfest, Jaegerball, Oktoberfest, and a family Christmas Party. To this very day, the desire to interact socially, to promote the preservation of the German language, and to maintain German customs and traditions as well as the German culture remains a focus for all. Our Future
We continue to have big dreams for our organization and thanks to a collection of members with diverse backgrounds who can provide broad perspective and valuable insights we will endure to shine. Involving new members, expanding membership, and embracing the next generations remains a priority to ensure a new source for continuous energy.

There’s something about a September birthday that feels a little bit like a fresh start.

Summer is still hanging around, but you can feel things beginning to shift. The days start changing. New routines begin. And somehow, September always feels like the start of a new chapter.

Which makes it a pretty special month to celebrate another trip around the sun.

So today, we want to take a moment to celebrate all of our Hubertushaus members with birthdays in September!

Another birthday means another year of stories to tell.

Another year of family dinners, friendships, celebrations, unexpected moments, and all those ordinary days that actually end up meaning more than we realize at the time.

And hopefully, somewhere along the way, our club - your club - has been part of a few of those memories too.

Maybe it was a conversation at the club.

A night spent celebrating.

A familiar face you were happy to see.

Or simply one of those moments where you walked through the doors and felt like you were among your people.

That’s what makes a community special. The years pass, birthdays come around again, and somehow, we keep adding more stories to the same place.

So to every one of our September birthday members, we hope this next chapter brings you plenty to smile about, lots of good people around you, and at least one really good excuse to eat cake.

Happy Birthday from all of us at !

We're doing something new this year.

For both Fridays, when you purchase 20 or more Meal Deal tickets, you will receive a gift card worth 15% of your ticket purchase value.

And you can use that gift card at German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) that same evening on anything available at the club.

That's a pretty great reason to get your group together after a long week.

“Are you going to the Pig Roast?”

That’s the kind of conversation we love hearing, especially as Saturday, September 12th gets closer.

Because honestly, there’s something about a Saturday afternoon spent outside with good food, family, friends, and nowhere you need to rush off to.

This year is especially exciting because it’s our **2nd Annual Pig Roast** at the club. And if you’ve never been to one of our community events before, this is a great way to experience what our club is all about.

We’ll enjoy the afternoon together, and the meal will be served from 12 PM until 5 PM (or until the meat runs out, whichever comes first).

And yes, there will be plenty to eat.

🐖 Pig roast
🥖 Buns
🥬 Coleslaw
🍟 Fries
🌽 Corn

**Members: $22
** Non-members: $25
**Kids: $10

Kids can enjoy a hot dog or a smaller pig roast meal with the same sides.

And if you love dessert, you’ll want to leave a little room because we have apple pie and chocolate cake for $5 a piece.

Whether you're a German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) member or not, you're welcome to join us. This is a community event, and we love opening our doors and our grounds to people who may be discovering us for the first time.

So, if you've been looking for a family-friendly event in Waterloo Region, something relaxed to do with friends, or simply a reason to get outside and enjoy a Saturday together,

This is it.

Saturday, September 12.

Come hungry. Bring someone you enjoy spending time with. And come experience a Pig Roast at our club.

Because sometimes the best afternoons are the ones that weren't complicated at all.

They just had good food, good people, and a place to gather.

Save this post so you don't forget the date, and share it with someone you'd love to spend the afternoon with.

“You know what we’ve been thinking about lately?”

How quickly summer starts to disappear.

One minute it feels like there’s all the time in the world, and the next minute we’re saying, “I can’t believe it’s already September.”

That’s why we wanted to tell you about something now instead of waiting until the last minute.

Our 2nd Annual Pig Roast is happening on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and honestly, we think it’s going to be one of those afternoons that reminds you how nice it is to slow down for a while.

No cooking.
No hosting.
No dishes waiting for you afterward.

Just good food, good people, and a few hours where you can actually relax.

Meals will be served from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, or until the food supply runs out, whichever comes first.

You can enjoy your meal on our patio or out on our beautiful grounds with family and friends.

The meal includes pig roast, coleslaw, fries, corn, and buns, and we’ll also have apple pie and chocolate cake available for dessert.
Our kids' meal: hot dogs or less pig roast with the same sides.
Food prices on slide 9

Whether you’re a member or you’ve never visited our club before, you’re warmly welcome. This is a family-friendly community event in Waterloo Region, and we’d love for you to experience what makes such a special place.

Then send your EFT payment to [email protected]

Please include your full name with your EFT so we can match it to your pre-ordered meal.

The people who usually enjoy these events the most are the ones who decide early and make a day of it with the people they love.

So if someone came to mind while you were reading this, share this post with them and say, “Let’s go together.”

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those afternoons you’ll be glad you didn’t miss.

“Wait… you don’t have to be a hunter or fishers (fisherman/woman) to become a member?”

We smiled when someone asked us this recently because, honestly, we’ve heard that question so many times over the years.

A lot of people assume is only for hunters or fishers. We get it. That’s where our club first started, and our German roots are a big part of who we are.

But here’s what we wish more people knew.

Our club has grown into something much bigger than that.

Today, we’re a multi-generational community club in Waterloo Region where people of many different nationalities and backgrounds come together. Some of our members have German heritage. Many don’t. Some have lived here for decades. Others are brand new to the area.

And when you spend time at the club, you stop noticing where people come from because everyone is there for the same reason. They enjoy the events, the food, the conversations, the beautiful grounds, and the feeling that they’re welcome.

That’s actually what makes this place so special.

You don’t need to hunt.
You don’t need to fish.
You don’t need to speak German.

It's all about enjoying being around good people.

Whether it’s our Spring Dance, Pig Roast, Oktoberfest, Christmas Market, or simply spending an afternoon at the club, our club is a place where members and non-members can feel at home.

If you’ve ever wondered what a membership is really about, we’d love to tell you more.

Visit our website or send us a DM. We’re always happy to answer your questions and help you discover what makes our club such a special part of the Waterloo Region community.

Can we be honest about birthdays for a second?

They’re actually one of the few days each year that quietly remind us how many people have been part of our story.

Another year of memories.
Another year of conversations.

Another year of family, friends, traditions, and moments that seemed ordinary at the time but somehow became the ones we remember.

That’s why we never want August birthdays to pass without saying something.

To every member celebrating a birthday this month, **happy birthday from all of us**.

We hope your day is filled with laughter, good food, people who make you feel loved, and at least one moment where you stop and think, “This is actually a pretty good life.”

Whether you’ve been a member for decades or you’ve recently joined our community, thank you for being part of our club.

Clubs like ours aren’t built by buildings or events. They’re built by people, and you are part of what makes this place feel so special year after year.

Literally, we’re grateful for every conversation, every event you’ve attended, every time you’ve supported the club, and every memory you’ve helped create.

So today, we’re celebrating you.

Happy Birthday to all of our August birthday members. May this next year bring you good health, happiness, new adventures, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Share this with someone you know how is celebrating a birthday this month. Our community celebrates with you too.

“Honestly, I don’t think people realize how many volunteers it takes to keep this club going.”

That was a conversation we were having the other day at our club.

And the more we talked, the more we realized something important.

People see the Oktoberfest celebrations.

They see the Pig Roast.
The Christmas Market.
The community events.
The beautiful grounds.

The meals.
The music.
The laughter.

What they don’t always see are the people who show up before everyone arrives.

The people who stay after everyone leaves.
The people who give their time because they care.

Some volunteer for a few hours.
Some volunteer all year.
Some are members.
Some aren’t members at all.

They simply show up out of the kindness of their hearts and ask, “What can I do to help?”

That is what makes special.

It’s actually not just the events.

It’s the people behind the events.

Because every celebration, every event, every community gathering, and every Oktoberfest moment is made possible by someone who quietly gave their time so that someone else could enjoy the day.

To every volunteer who has helped at our club this year, and during Oktoberfest, thank you.

Literally, thank you.

You have no idea how many memories you’ve helped create for families, friends, visitors, and our entire community.

We couldn’t do this without you.
And we never want to stop saying that.
