To increase the public's appreciation of the arts through well-crafted, provocative, and entertaining theatrical productions that explore the social issues of our time;

The advancement of education in the arts through instruction and arts training;

Join the audience today for the staged readings of two original plays: THE CHILD and APPROPRIATE written and directed by Waterloo-based playwright and director Vivian Wang.

This is an early public sharing of the work. Five actors (Jasmine Ward, Kevin White, Helayna Panagos, Ethan Warren, Linus Ma) will perform with scripts in hand.

After the performance, audience members are welcome to join a conversation with the cast and crew.

๐—ฆ๐˜†๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜€: The Burning Willow is a tragic play set in 1694 that follows Willow, a woman accused of witchcraft for using herbal remedies to help others. Despite her kindness and skill, her husband Jebediah and the Witchfinder General turn against her, driven by fear, sexism, and rigid religious beliefs. As hysteria spreads, Willow is condemned and ultimately burned at the stake. The play highlights how women were persecuted for defying societal roles and questions injustice that still exists today. Through Willowโ€™s story, it exposes the dangers of ignorance, power, and blind obedience in a deeply patriarchal society
