Thank you everyone for joining us for the fifth annual Palestine festival! This year’s festival brought together thousands from our community in celebration of our people’s culture, in recognition of their steadfastness and resistance, and to recommit to the struggle for liberation.

This day is only made possible by the volunteers, sponsors, vendor, performers and community who come out in support and we are truly so grateful 🇵🇸🇵🇸

Thousands came together for the fifth annual KW Palestine Festival to celebrate Palestinian culture, history and resistance despite every attempt to silence us 🇵🇸

Families, vendors, community, artists, organizers and neighbours filled the space with joy, determination and solidarity.

This festival has always been about more than a single day. It is proof that our community is organized, rooted and growing stronger together.

Thank you to every volunteer, performer, vendor, sponsor and every single person who came out. We are only as strong as the community behind us, and ours continues to show what unity, solidarity and collective commitment can build 🇵🇸♥️

The Palestinian Youth Ensemble ended off our festival last Sunday with an incredible performance, featuring the songs Men Sejen Akka, Habbat el Nar and Ounadikom. Resistance music is a pillar of Palestinian culture and our fight for liberation. Through singing these songs and sharing them across generations, we reassert our identity in the face of erasure and carry forward our people’s revolutionary spirit.

The merkava symbolizes deep aggression and violence against the Palestinian people by the Israeli military. When placed beside a replica of the car Hind Rajab and her family were killed in, a sliver of the contrast begins to be felt.

Parts of the merkava are manufactured in Canada, thus making the Canadian government complicit in the razing of Palestinians by these machines of death.

We must ensure Canada ends in complicity in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians by Israel. We must continue to end our complicity to support the fight for Palestinian liberation from genocide and occupation.

Ko Tinmaung recently returned from Palestine on the most recent flotilla mission. While these activists were able to return home from their illegal kidnapping by the IOF, the compass of their mission remains resolute—that over 9,600 Palestinians remain disappeared in Zionist prisons that are subjected to
unimaginable conditions. As with all oppressed peoples, time and time again, they rise up and liberate themselves from the shackles of their confines. It is our duty to continue to ensure we do everything possible to support Palestinian political prisoners in their struggle for freedom. Follow freepalestinianprisoners to see how you can support.

Our Genocide Behind Bars exhibit today highlighted the extremely horrific conditions that Palestinian political prisoners continue to experience. Our prisoners are the compass of our struggle, because despite the torture, violence, and medical abuse - they continue to resist. FREE THEM ALL!

On January 29, 2024, 5-year-old Hind Rajab along with six members of her family were martyred by the Israeli military in their family car trying to evacuate. As Red Crescent paramedics sought to rescue them, they too were attacked and killed. What was left was their bodies and the destruction of their car with 355 bullets.

Every child—every Palestinian—is a universe, and we must continue to honour all our martyrs.

Come see the Hind Rajab exhibit today at this year’s Palestine Festival.
