One of the things I've noticed about St. Matthews is that people arrive here for all sorts of different reasons.

A concert.

A rehearsal.

A meeting.

A celebration.

A quiet conversation over coffee.

By the end of the day, they've all helped add another chapter to the story of this building.

That's what makes places like St. Matthews special.

They're shaped by the people who walk through the doors.

What have the STEM Camp kids been up to this summer?

Building.

Testing.

Creating.

Asking lots of questions.

(And probably making a few messes along the way!)

If you've walked by St. Matthews over the last few weeks, you may have noticed a little extra activity outside.

Work was underway to restore the sanctuary windows—part of the ongoing care that helps preserve one of Kitchener's historic landmarks.

These projects aren't always the most visible, but they're an important investment in the future of the building, helping ensure it continues to welcome concerts, performances, community events, and celebrations for generations to come.

It's exciting to see another piece of St. Matthews' story being cared for.

Every week, our rooms become places where people learn something new.

Recently, Zeluchi Charles Academy opened its doors and invited the community in for their open house launch in our Scout Hall! Kitchener's Mayor Berry Vrbanovic and other community leaders were in attendance to support their vision that's creating new opportunities for Africans in Canada.

One of the best parts of being a community hub is seeing the incredible work our partners do beyond our walls. Back in May, HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre hosted Strides for Hope. Thanks to the generosity of participants, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters, the event raised more than $2,000 to help provide free cancer support programs for individuals and families in our community.

We're proud to have HopeSpring as part of the St. Matthews Centre family and are grateful for the compassionate work they do every day.

Can't believe we're already closing out July!

This university graduation celebration turned Fellowship Hall into an absolute showstopper! It was the perfect excuse to show off that gorgeous new paint job. Blush and gold everywhere, white florals, flickering candlelight...the room has never looked better.

One more month of summer weddings, camp days, and this building doing what it does best: holding space for community. Onward to August!
