We may be on the cusp of some wild winter weather but Friday come hell or waist deep snow I’ll be at the Rotunda at city hall for the Canvas in the Sky unveiling.

So excited to be selected with my sweet snow birds and can’t wait to celebrate becoming a part of the vibrant art found all throughout KW.

I was really proud to be invited to the Mayor’s state of the City address at the end of October. As an artist and as a rep for - these passions are so intertwined for me! Love Local indeed!

I’m not a digital artist - watercolour and ink are my favourites always.

One of my most popular prints is my ‘Backyard Birds of…” poster, made by scanning and collaging my birds together digitally ✂️

This is Paris ONTARIO, not Paris, France - to be extra clear ;) I don’t think the Parises share birds 🤔

First it started as Backyard Birds of Kitchener, Ontario and then the Waterloo birders gave me the stink eye. So I have both K and W, then Dorchester request came in, then Cambridge now Paris :)

But also have BYB of the Region of Waterloo to make my life easier. I do however ADORE it when someone requests their specific hometown and are so giddy for themselves or to give my birds as a gift.

Ohhhkay, oh my 😮‍💨 was working on this last night and started hyperventilating but evidently I’m still doing that this morning too so let’s just get to it!

I am so excited to share that I’m a market vendor at and 𝓟𝓡𝓘𝓓𝓔 𝓜𝓐𝓡𝓚𝓔𝓣 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓔𝓛𝓓𝓔𝓡 𝓣𝓐𝓛𝓚

When: June 22, from 12noon until 4pm
Where: Schneiderhaus, 466 Queen St S, Kitchener

This is my very first market! And I have so many thoughts swirling about engaging with people, sales, prints, birds, doing things right, and generally squirrelly Anxiety powered thoughts but I have those in hand 💪

I am so happy to be a part of this market 🥰 (and the KW Multicultural Festival is on the 22nd too, it will be a fun day to be in DTK!).

Wrens are one of my favourite birds. All that musical power packed into those teeny bodies. The cheeky posture and the beautiful browns, coppers and silvers.

They always look like they should have one of the faefolk attending them.

WREN FACTS!

- they will nest in boots 🥾

- Their name in Chippewa is O-du-na’-mis-sug-ud-da-we’-shi, meaning “big noise for its size.”

- Troglodytes aedon, their Latin name reflect their behaviour too Troglodytes means “hole dweller” and aedon “singer”

- they are a controversial bird because they will fight, displace and even destroy the nests of other songbirds. NATURE 💥

Anyone else read troglodyte and instantly their brain conjures the morlocks from HG Wells’ The Time Machine and feel compelled to hide 🫣 Not just me right?!?

Hey have you noticed I rarely repost any of my work? This evidently is dumb and I should repost and revisit the pieces I love to introduce them to new folks and expand on them for you troopers who’ve put up with my bird nonsense for ages.

This secret gift was one of my favourite things to do last year!! I adored mucking around with my patrons choice of backyard favourites from my body of work in 2023 until we came up with a beautiful collage of beloved backyard birds.

Well! July’s bunch is a wonderful diverse bundle of birds!

This project of mine gets better every day and I could speak for hours on how much this has helped, changed, improved me.

I did genuinely think my art was lost to me. Now I can’t imagine a day without it.

Thank you for being here with me. Thank you for sharing your connections and reasons to love the birds. Thank you for your patience while I figure out how to be a working artist.

To make July extra special released this fab new tune. And I love it, my birds love it, I hope you love it too.

So can we call these the ‘bird days’ of summer ;) Here’s to a good August!!
