The first wave of programming for Tett After Dark: Enchanted Forest has arrived! This Halloween, the Tett Centre transforms after dark for a night of immersive art, unexpected encounters, and magical activities.

🧵 Got a fabric stash you’ve been meaning to tackle? It’s time to give those forgotten fabrics a new life!

Join Wild Bobbin & Tett Centre for a Fabric Swap on Sunday, October 25, from 12 – 2 PM. Donate quality fabrics, patterns, books or sewing notions ahead of time, then come browse and take home some “new-to-you” treasures. Don’t have anything to swap? No problem — everyone is welcome after 12 PM!

🎟️ Donors get early access at 11 AM
💸 Entry by donation (minimum $5)

🎨 Creative Connections Lab – Ninth Session: Exploring Korean Dancheong

Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning continues Creative Connections Lab, a free, inclusive program of interdisciplinary, artist-led workshops for adults (18+), focused on increasing access to the arts and fostering meaningful community connection. Participants are invited to explore creativity through visual arts, movement, writing, and storytelling in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Join artist Minjung Choi for a hands-on workshop exploring the vibrant patterns and visual traditions of Korean dancheong (단청). Minjung will introduce participants to the cultural history and symbolism of dancheong and minhwa (민화), Korean folk art traditions that continue to inspire contemporary Korean culture, including popular media such as KPop Demon Hunters. Participants will learn about traditional motifs and patterns and create their own silk fan decorated with Korean dancheong designs. This workshop offers an opportunity to connect with Korean artistic traditions while exploring how traditional imagery continues to be reimagined today. No previous art experience is necessary – just bring your curiosity and creativity!

This workshop is supported by the Korean Cultural Centre Canada () through the provision of traditional Korean painting tools.

Curious about what it means to be an Artist-in-Residence at the Tett Centre?

The Tett Artist Residency provides an opportunity for emerging artist to be a part of our thriving community of artistic creation, learning, and exchange, cost-free. This production-based residency provides artists with dedicated studio space in Studio B for three months to develop or complete a project or body of work, in addition to opportunities for community engagement through activities such as performances, artist talks, workshops, or other initiatives. The residency culminates in an annual public showcase, giving artists the opportunity to share their completed work and creative journey with a broader audience in the Tett Gallery.

All skill levels and mediums are welcome — it’s a space to share, collaborate, and explore your creativity!

📢 Tett Centre Update

Tett Centre Office is CLOSED today (Wednesday, September 30) for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Staff will be back onsite Thursday, October 1.

The building will remain open to the public during regular hours. We invite everyone to consider wearing orange on Wednesday as a visible act of solidarity and remembrance that every child matters.

There are also a number of events happening throughout Kingston today that we encourage you to attend or engage with in some way if you're able. The City of Kingston's event listing [1] outlines some key events taking place, and the Queen's Office of Indigenous Initiatives has a list of events and learning opportunities [2] that the public can attend as well.

🎨 Creative Connections Lab – Eighth Session: Drawing in Motion

Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning continues Creative Connections Lab, a free, inclusive program of interdisciplinary, artist-led workshops for adults (18+), focused on increasing access to the arts and fostering meaningful community connection. Participants are invited to explore creativity through visual arts, movement, writing, and storytelling in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Join Floriana Ehninger-Cuervo & Kay Kenney for an interdisciplinary workshop that brings together life drawing and creative movement. Participants will begin with a short introduction to life drawing and a movement warm-up, then explore drawing bodies in motion. The workshop encourages playful experimentation, observation, and creative expression, with opportunities to both draw and move. No previous drawing or dance experience is required.

👕 What to wear: Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in, and bring indoor shoes, non-slip socks, or be prepared to participate barefoot.
