Rest in peace, Dolly Parton. 💛

From 9 to 5 to Steel Magnolias, she gave us characters who were funny, fierce, and unforgettable — women who worked hard, stood up for themselves, and never lost their heart. Off screen, she gave us even more: a voice for the voiceless, an advocate for literacy and equality, and a living example of what it means to be unapologetically yourself.

Thank you for the music, the movies, and the endless reminders that kindness and resilience can go hand in hand. The world is a little dimmer today, but your light isn’t going anywhere.

Thank you for embracing Priscilla Queen of the Desert with such incredible acceptance, love, laughter and open hearts.

Night after night, your cheers, your messages, your tears and those amazing standing ovations reminded us exactly why theatre matters.

Priscilla is outrageous, colourful, funny and full of glitter — but underneath all of that is a beautiful message about love, acceptance, family, courage and having the freedom to be exactly who you are.

Kelowna, you embraced that message with us.

For a show that asks audiences to open their hearts, you opened yours completely, and we will never forget it.

Thank you for supporting our performers, our musicians, our crew, our designers and artistic team, and for filling our little theatre with so much joy.

After 24 years of creating theatre in this community, moments like this still mean everything.

From all of us at Kelowna Actors Studio — thank you for the love, the acceptance, the standing ovations and for taking this crazy, beautiful, glitter-covered journey across the desert with us.

Introducing three of the biggest stars in Priscilla Queen of the Desert: Lola, Tammy and Carmen!

Don’t recognize these divas? It’s because they never make it on the stage (not in THIS show, at least 😉)

These are the dedicated DRESSERS for our three queens! We don’t usually divulge all of our theatre magic, but show after show, we are constantly asked, “How does everyone change costumes SO quickly?!”

The dressers rehearse choreographed quick-changes - some as short as 20 seconds!! - to magical perfection. Our costume designer and seamstresses have a hand in adding special zippers and even magnets to ensure these quick changes go off without a hitch.

What’s more: they’re executing this high-precision task IN THE DARK.

Next time you wonder how a character left the stage, and re entered seconds later, cool as a cucumber, in a totally new outfit (and wig!), thank our amazing dressers!

ps - Little Shop of Horrors is over 70% sold! Don’t miss Lola as she steps out of the dark to light up the stage as Ronnette! Shang-alang!!
