Still here for you ♥️ Tomorrow, Friday August 21 from 11 AM—6 PM evacuees and community members impacted by the wildfires are welcome to come shop our donation centre and take what they need.

If you’ve been evacuated, impacted, or have fallen through the cracks of existing emergency services, please come see us. Caseworkers and federal support will be onsite to help guide you and figure out the next steps.

Family matinee will be shown in KEC’s Main Room from 12:00-2:00 🎥

This week, what began as an invitation became a true community collaboration.

With the generous support of partners, volunteers, donors, and local businesses, space was made for donation support, family programming, and a place to land.

Our Evacuee Donations initiative is now full, and KEC + theBLOC will be closed for the weekend while our team prepares for next steps.

To the evacuees who came through today:
thank you for trusting us.

More donation pick-up dates will be announced early next week.

Our donation centre is open today for evacuees to come by, look around + take what you need.

Mamas for Mamas is pleased to have been invited by Nicole Rustad, Chief of Staff to the Honourable Stephen Fuhr, Member of Parliament for Kelowna, to join his office in bringing additional support directly to our community.

Tomorrow from 10:00am-8:00pm at the Kelowna Event Centre, support will be available for wildfire evacuees and community members who may have fallen through the cracks of existing emergency services.

Aaron Forsyth, Caseworker with the Office of MP Stephen Fuhr, will be onsite helping people navigate and connect with available federal programs and supports, including Employment Insurance (EI).

Aaron also brings extensive wildfire recovery experience, having previously worked with the Canadian Red Cross providing casework support to people who had lost their homes due to wildfires.

Vanessa Tregarthen, At-Risk Caseworker with Mamas for Mamas, will also be onsite providing wildfire, evacuee and general community support, helping families navigate essential services and connecting them with additional resources available through Mamas for Mamas.

If you’ve been evacuated, impacted by the wildfires, or you’re simply struggling and have fallen through the cracks, please come see us.

You don’t need to know which program you qualify for or where you’re supposed to go. Come as you are and we’ll help you figure out the next step.

Wildfire Evacuee Donation Drop-Off 📦

KEC is accepting donations for wildfire evacuees at The Fridge.

🕙 10 AM—8 PM
📍 SW Entrance at 2041 Harvey Ave, Kelowna

Suggested items include new toiletries, practical clothing, diapers, pet supplies, paper products, batteries, laundry strips, and gift cards.

All items received will be distributed to evacuees through the appropriate support channels.
