My latest project: 1931 Conn Art Deco transitional alto with newer key work fitted. This was a difficult and tricky job, but completely satisfying, and a joy to work on.
The only original key work is the octave mechanism because the octave pip is on the underside of the neck, causing the action to be reversed compared to a current octave system. The other original parts are the low B and Bb pad cups with rods. Everything else, including keys and key posts have been fitted to the sax.
(I also have 2 Conn New Wonder tenors in the works as well).
If you have a vintage horn that you want more ergonomic key work fitted, give me a shout.

To everyone out there who has sax or clarinet mouthpieces that are old, beat up, or lemons, or just extras taking up space that you want to get rid of or have no use for, please let me know.
Or, perhaps you had an old favourite that doesn't work anymore, but would like to revive, let me know, and let's get it playing again.

Man, it feels great to repairing instruments again! It also feels like I haven't skipped a beat, except for locating certain parts because I rearranged stuff in the shop after the move, so I stare at my long row of wall mounted parts bins fo rabout 30 seconds before I realize where I put those parts...Duuuuhhhhhh LOL.

Here are some pics of my new shop up at the house. Thanks again to Jeff Deacoff for hooking up the 220, and the running hot and cold water from the house, and for the tremendous help loading out of the old shop and loading in to the new from my friends Darcy Holmberg, Les Kobayashi, Nick Garding and Neville Bowman. Special thanks to Darcy for rebuilding my bench, and wiring in my buffing machine and bench plugs. That allowed me to start the process of placing everything and getting it ready.

BC Transplant

Some people are wondering about hours of operation. I am currently closed, and in the process of building a shop at my residence. Progress is slow at the moment as I am still struggling with post heart transplant complications such as leg healing from Fasciotomy, extreme soreness in the chest, and fighting an infection at the moment. I will try to be more diligent with updates concerning shop, and healing progress. At the current rate, I suspect I will be ready by the end of August -beginning of Sept.

Sorry about taking so long for udpates. Lots going on. OMUS is closed for the time being. We have given up our lease and are in the process of relocating to our home on the West side. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call 250-212-7754. We may not be ready to do repairs, but we would love to hear from you and we can certainly refer you to someone who can look after your horn.
