Your tattoo appointment starts before you get to the studio. 👀 Here’s how to set yourself up for a better session:
✨ Moisturize ahead of time.
For the 1–2 weeks leading up to your appointment, regularly moisturize the area being tattooed. Healthy, hydrated skin is much nicer to work with than dry, flaky or irritated skin.
💧 Show up fed + hydrated.
Eat a proper meal beforehand and drink plenty of water. Tattooing puts stress on your body, and starting hungry or dehydrated can make a long session considerably harder.
😴 It’s game day! Treat it that way.
Especially for a full-day or multi-day piece: get some sleep! The night before probably isn’t the time for an all-nighter or a huge night out. Give your body a fighting chance.
☕ Keep your routine… routine.
Tattoo day isn’t the day to experiment. If you never drink coffee or use cannabis, don’t introduce something new because you think it’ll help you sit.
On the other hand, if your morning latte is part of your everyday routine, suddenly skipping it and showing up with a withdrawal headache or nausea isn’t necessarily helping either
🍬 Pack for the day.
For longer sessions, bring water or electrolytes, something sugary for a quick boost, and a proper lunch or substantial snack. Future-you at hour six will appreciate the preparation.
🎧 Get comfortable.
Bring headphones, your phone, a book, tablet — whatever keeps you entertained. You absolutely do not have to talk to us for eight hours. 😂 We also have TVs in all of our tattoo rooms, so you’re welcome to throw something on and settle in.
Basically: rested, fed, hydrated and ready.
You put on your game face. We’ll handle the tattoo. ✨
