Even young children, as young as 5 years of age, feel nervous when in front of a group of people. A class I recently joined involving dance (and it's a hoot!) had a couple of youngsters dancing alongside of the instructor and the little girl aged 5 explained to me after the class how nervous whe was 'up there.' So, I asked her, "why do you think that is...that you were nervous because you did an awesome job!" And she replied, "it's just a little scary...in front of all the people", to which I said, "but it is nice that you know everyone here, isn't it...it makes it friendly, really." She was really cute! She started to show me her 'made up' gymnastics move!
