How hard can it be to make a play?
Anyone who does theatre knows the answer is:
VERY HARD 😵💫
There's the stuff you see:
- The cast has to learn their lines
- The set has to be built
- The costumes need to be put together
- The music and sound effects have to be selected
But there's also the stuff most audience members don't think about:
- Hours spent at thrift stores finding the right pair of jeans.
- Haggling people on Facebook Marketplace for the right furniture piece on a tight budget
- Editing musical pieces six times until the director is happy with the length and composition
- Figuring out the logistics of getting a prop to the right place at the right time for the right actor to enter or exit with it.
- Adjusting lights up in the catwalks by literal centimeters so the actor's faces are lit up just right.
To say it's a team effort is an understatement.
And I'm proud to say this is my team.
