This April, I am beyond thrilled.

We're delighted to announce that Megan MacDonald will share techniques for creating the kinds of exquisite textures she utilizes so beautifully in her work.

As part of the IEA ConVerge Retreat in Morro Bay, CA in April, Megan will offer a demo, "Exploring Visual and Physical Texture: Encaustics have a beautiful otherworldly depth and a tactile, sumptuous surface... During this demonstration, we will discuss the difference between visual and physical texture and explore ways in which each can be created."

’s Nest Art Studio will also offer an introductory level workshop prior to Retreat “Intro to Encaustic Painting – Creating Visual & Physical Dimension in Wax”.

We can't wait! Find out more by visiting the events page of our website:

From sketchbook to painting. Not the best shots of the finished pieces but you get the idea. I rather enjoyed these pieces all together and I feel in the case of these particular paintings the frame definitely completed the piece. To frame or not to frame… that is the question. What do you prefer? Do you regularly frame your work of leave that up to the collector? When you purchase a painting, would you like to choose your own method of framing?

Well hello, it’s been a wee bit quiet over here. I hope you are keeping well in these wild times. Lots going on here on the home front ( all is well ). In case you had not heard, there was a flood in my studio… fear not no art was harmed. Repairs are coming slowly and there is lots more to do. I am gathering steam, working on a few new offerings and I have been working in my sketchbook. Over the summer got back into book binding. I am no pro but there is something profoundly rewarding about creating a book from simple supplies. Here are a few of the sketchbooks I made. More to come. Wriggling my way back into my daily practice. .

Something I fell in love with years ago was book arts. I explored book binding and paper making. One of my favourites was creating pop up books with . Recently I have been feeling the itch to create my own journal but it’s been years since I created books or have done any book binding. I was feeling a little rusty and unsure where to start when I came across amazing bookbinding kits from ♥️. Definitely feeling a sense of accomplishment now that these 3 are completed. Today in the Tuesday am virtual class we will be assembling the larger Anselm book kit from and adding in a few of our own folios. Stay tuned and keep creating. .
