Meet the crew and get your tickets to see DeAnna in Animal Farm!

DeAnna is our director and will also be doing live sound-effects on stage.

This is DeAnna's first time officially directing a show and she could not be more excited for the opportunity! Her theatre experience includes roles in Urinetown (Soundstage Productions) and Camelot (Kelowna Actor's Studio), backstage work with Kelowna Actor's Studio, and choreographing Tommy (Theatre Kelowna Society), among others. She is enjoying the challenge of directing and creating sound effects for Animal Farm and would like to send a sincere thank you to the amazing, dedicated cast for all of their hard work. Also, big thanks to Peter for encouraging her to take this on (and daily validation), and Abi for keeping her on track and making her laugh. You can see DeAnna on stage next in Cabaret with New Vintage Theatre (June 2022) and backstage directing Atlantis with the Virago Collective (Fall 2022).

We are so lucky to have Abi as our multi-talented stage manager, not only keeping us on track but also running cues and helping with live sound effects and some other surprises!

This is Abi’s twelfth time working in theatre and first time as a stage manager. Her previous experience as stage crew includes many, many shows at the Kelowna Actors Studio. Some of her favourites were White Christmas, Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. Most recently, she was assistant stage manager for Evil Dead last year. She’s thrilled to be apart of such a entertaining production of Animal Farm, along with working with great cast and director.

We are excited to have Derek Beaton joining us from Oliver, and lending us his impressive vocal skills, as two very different, but very impressive, pigs: Old Major and Napolean. Plus, allowing us to test his skills as many other background animals!

Derek joins having 25 seasons as a chorus member and performing Comprimario roles with Edmonton Opera. After moving to the Okanagan, Derek has been involved with local Theatre in Penticton performing title roles in Newsies, The Secret Garden and Urinetown. Derek is very excited to be working with the Kelowna theatre community as part of their Fringe Festival. Come out and enjoy the show!

Jason brings his impressive skills to the stage, as various characters, but we especially love his steadfast Boxer the Horse. And his vocal sound effects are so surprising that you might think we've brought in an actual rooster!

Jason is thrilled to be back on stage after a long hiatus. You may have seen him in performances with Kelowna Actors Studio playing roles like Ernst in Cabaret, General Waverly in White Christmas, the monster in Young Frankenstein and more recently Gaston in Beauty and the Beast. He also performed in Orwell’s other classic, 1984. Jason comes from an athletic background as a former college football player as well as the Head Coach of the Okanagan Sun junior football team. He got involved with theatre after his wife Catherine signed them up as backstage crew for Rocky Horror … it wasn’t long before Jason was on stage! When he’s not memorizing lines, Jason is learning jiu-jitsu, loves wine-tasting and scotch sampling, and is an estimator with Joe & Sons Concrete in Kelowna.
