"The People That You Meet"

I have the absolute honour of sharing that this piece was selected by the City of Kawartha Lakes to be a part of the 2027 Municipal Calendar!
As part of the 2026 "That's a Wrap Program" and in celebration of the CKL's 25th anniversary, this year's theme was "The People of Kawartha Lakes."
What was inititally a call for members of the community to send in pictures and bios of themselves for this project, it quickly became clear that the piece needed to go in another direction. Instead of speaking about themselves, people chose to highlight other members of the community who have made a profound and notable difference. I felt like that spoke to the nature of The People of Kawartha Lakes more than anything else I could have done.
Highlighted here are:
Shawn Teel, a Purolator driver whose route has ran through Fenelon Falls for over 7 years.
Caroline Fenelius-Carpenter, former PSW and recreation aid and current Celebrant and End of Life Doula in the community, among many other efforts in the community.
Mark Oliver, a Paramedic serving the community for over 34 years.
Robert Jardine and Monica Bertrand-Jardine, Funeral Directors at Jardine Funeral Home, Cremation & Tribute Centre.
