Kamloops Film Society Bringing the world to Kamloops through film, diverse programming and screen-based events at the Paramount Theatre.

The Kamloops Film Society (KFS), originally the Cariboo College Film Society, was formed in 1973, and currently operates the Paramount Theatre and the Twin Rivers Drive-In. In 2021 the KFS bought the MovieMart operations and continues to rent videos to the public. The KFS is responsible for events such as the Thursday Film Series, the Indigenous Film Festival (in partnership with Tk̓emlúps te Secw

épemc) and the annual March Kamloops Film Festival (KFF), which includes the Kamloops Independent Short Shorts (KISS) Festival. Our mission is to provide publicly screened, hand-picked, diverse, high-quality films. To show the best in independent, Canadian and foreign cinema in Kamloops. As well, the Society endeavours to promote and support filmmaking and related visual media in the Kamloops area by offering grants periodically throughout each year when able to do so.

Celebrate National Indigenous People’s Day at the Paramount Theatre with a returning fan favourite, ‘Meadowlarks’.🪶

The film tells the story of four Cree siblings, Connie, Marianne, Gwen, and Anthony, separated as babies through Canada’s notorious Sixties Scoop, which saw indigenous children taken from their homes to be adopted by white families. Excited and curious, but also scared and afraid of rejection, they agree to meet for the first time over a holiday weekend in the mountains of Banff.🏔️
