Dear Artist,

It is with great excitement that we invite you to be part of the Hydra Performing Arts Festival!

As the Hydra Performing Arts Festival prepares for its 2026 rendition, we’re curating a showcase that marks a significant moment: a revival of creative gathering, and, at the same
time, the final days of The Effie Arts Collective theater space which has hosted the festival in years past and served as an intimate home for so many performances, collaborations, and artistic memories.

We are seeking submissions of interdisciplinary acts to perform as part of this special edition showcase and to also peak your interest in the larger Hydra Performing Arts festival being
planned for later this year. Applicants for the April showcase may be given priority consideration for the larger festival.

So, do you have something in the works that could move from a 5, 10, or 15 min tease to full-fledged 45-min production? This will be both a celebration and a gathering that acknowledges what has been built within those walls, and what will continue beyond them.

We would be honored to have you contribute your voice and presence to this meaningful occasion.

The What:

- A 5, 10, or 15 min act
- Self-contained - no big set up or tear down (5 min or less)
- Rating ( G-PG-19+)
- New and original works welcome
- Space for emerging artists as well as established

The Why:

- Honorarium box office split - artists per show will share 70% of ticket sales, 30% will be put towards funding the larger festival

The When:

- April 23th - Artist meet and greet
- Friday April 24th and Saturday April 25th - Performances

The Where:

- The Effie Arts Collective
422 Tranquille Rd

Please send your submissions for consideration no later than March 13.

Let’s send this chapter off the way it deserves — together.

Conversations at the Effie Host Aaron Shufletoski was lucky enough to speak with Kamloops This Week Editor Christopher Foulds about the state of news in Kamloops. We are very upset to hear of the upcoming closure of Kamloops' last newspaper.
