“Prowl” by JP Lancaster is out on streaming now, and the split vinyl with Jared Jackel’s Bad Vibrations is in the physical world too.
About this album:
“The process of making ‘Around Town’ with Jackson and Graham was so fun and rewarding. At the end of that project, I immediately started writing new songs so we could keep the ball rolling. Rather than sending them finished ideas, they were up for hearing initial sketches and putting their own touches on their parts.
Putting out a split with Jared Jackel’s Bad Vibrations is one of the great pleasures of my life. We’ve shared stages for years and he is a person and artist who I hold the utmost respect for. His song ‘Electric City’ has been a permanent influence on my work.
If you listen to lyrics, there is a theme in ‘Prowl’ you can decode. I was reading ‘Ulysses’ while writing ‘Prowl’ and thought if Joyce can write 783 pages of stream of consciousness prose about his hometown, surely my talentless and largely unknown ass could do the same. Tango Town is some near future, neo-feudalist place that is on fire, with a downtown luxury hotel called the Six Sided Ocean and its bar Doors In Floors.
I’ve been blessed to play music as long as I have. A million thank yous to everyone who has supported me over the years. Specifically, Brandon Velestuk, Conor Conley, Derek Heathfield, Mark Crawford, Tristan Thompson, Frank Luca, Jordan Koop, Jeff MacCallum, Jackson J Gardner, Graham Jones, the 2% Jazz, At Mission Dolores and those who were around that band, and of course, my family. My eternal appreciation to all of you.”
