Kamloops Art Gallery The Kamloops Art Gallery The Kamloops Art Gallery offers inspiring, provocative, and transformative art experiences of national caliber.

Located in Secwepemcúlecw , it is the largest art gallery in the Interior of British Columbia and boasts a collection of over 3,000 works of art. With more than 12 exhibitions every year, they offer diverse, accessible, and affordable experiences including talks, tours, and studio-based programming for people of all ages and abilities. The Kamloops Art Gallery was incorporated and opened in 1978.

It is the principal Gallery for the visual arts in the southern interior of British Columbia. The Gallery is committed to the belief that art is an essential part of the human experience. It is dedicated to making this belief tangible within the communities it serves.

Participants will experiment with layers of paint, texture, stencils, and seasonal foliage to produce a series of unique prints inspired by the beauty of summer.

All materials are provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own botanicals, including plants and leaves gathered from gardens or outdoor spaces.

Introducing Nasim Pirhadi! Her exhibition The Pit is now on view in The Cube!

Nasim Pirhadi is a multidisciplinary artist whose work incorporates video, sound, olfactory elements, performance, and sculpture to create multisensory experiences. Based in Kelowna, British Columbia, Pirhadi explores culturally sensitive topics within the complex socio-political landscape of her home country of Iran. Through a research-driven approach, she engages with feminist perspectives on identity and subjectivity.

Pirhadi has exhibited internationally, participating in exhibitions across Canada, Germany, Austria, England, Sri Lanka and the United States. In 2017, she was presented with the Selected Award at the Third Contemporary Drawing Festival in Iran and was a finalist for the Behnam Bakhtiar Award in Monaco, France. In 2022, she was awarded the Audain Travel Award for research in New York.

Join somatic facilitator Vanessa Woulfe at the Kamloops Art Gallery for an embodied movement workshop inspired by the exhibition Dancing through to the Other Side and the exploration of dance within the gallery space.

Participants will be guided through movement-based practices that consider how the body engages with artworks, space, and others. Connect through movement and explore what happens when a gallery becomes a space for shared, embodied experience.

Open to participants of all ages, this workshop invites a collective approach to noticing, moving, and being in the gallery.

No dance experience is needed. Children are warmly encouraged, and babies are welcome in carriers.

🧡 Q***r Futures Opening Reception: June 6, 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to this celebration of q***r futures and q***r art.

💛 Kamloops Pride Open House: June 12, 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Hosted by Kamloops Pride, look for KAG’s booth with fun art activities.

💚Rainbow Connections: June 13, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A passport program collaborating with other organizations in downtown Kamloops.

💙No Space for Hate: June 13, 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A free16+ screen printing workshop. Register at kag.bc.ca/studio to save your spot as space is limited.

Join us for an evening of clay exploration in the KAG studios!

Participants will work with pre-formed leather-hard vessels or create a hand-built form of their own using clay tools, textured press moulds, and slips.

The workshop introduces techniques for working with leather-hard clay, including altering and attaching wet forms, and experimenting with surface treatments such as slip and sgraffito.

This session encourages experimentation and creative exploration through clay. No previous experience is necessary.

Finished works will be bisque fired and available for pickup in June. Participants will be contacted by email when their pottery is ready.

A warm thank you to all those who attended our opening this weekend! Whether you attended the opening reception, panel discussion, artist workshop, or all three, we appreciate everyone who was able to come visit the Gallery.

Dancing through to the other side is curated by Charo Neville and features projects by Justine A. Chambers, Luciana Freire D’Anunciação, Tanya Lukin Linklater, and Andrea Nann, Dreamwalker.

Curated by Craig Willms,The Pit is a new body of work by Nasim Pirhadi’s that transforms the architecture of The Cube to resemble a traditional Iranian gym.
