Throwback to one of our favourite Canada Day Draw prizes, the 2025 handmade community basket won by Amy Kivi!

Look closely and you’ll see hours of dedicated craftsmanship, all lovingly created and donated by local creators. Shoutout to Amy, the lucky winner who got to take all these local goodies home!

Quick question for our community: if you were putting together your ultimate handmade dream basket, what local items MUST be inside? Let us know in the comments!

In the Renaissance, patrons wrote blue paint into the contract. 🔵

Ultramarine was ground from lapis lazuli lines in Afghanistan, and the best grades cost more than gold. Wealthy patrons made sure they got what they paid for, so the amount of it an artist used was spelled out in writing. That’s why so many Virgin Mary’s wear deep blue robes.

This month, we’re hoping you’ll be a little more casual with your colours. Pick up a crayon, carve a pumpkin, wander a craft table, catch some live music. Everything you need to know is in this post.

The full October newsletter has the rest of the paint story, plus the free colouring pages to download. Subscribe through the link in our bio.

What colour would you spend gold on?

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Art, storytelling, and music play a powerful role in truth & healing.

Today, we pause to honour the survivors, their families, and the children who never came home.

If you’re wearing orange or taking time to reflect today, drop a photo of your orange shirt, an orange heart emoji, or a simple thought in the comments as we stand together in memory and respect.

Also, feel free to share an Indigenous artist, author, musician, or creator whose work has inspired you, moved, or educated you in the comments below.

Every child matters. Today and every day. 🧡
