Join us for the 3rd annual Billy McDonald Memorial Rodeo in Lac La Biche, AB.

Now that the dust has settled and we have kind of caught up on sleep we would like to take a moment to thank those who helped us this year at the Billy McDonald Memorial Rodeo!

Thank you to David & Laurie McDonald, Dylan Benson and the Roth boys for bringing the horses!

Thank you to Walking M Rodeo for bringing the bulls & cowboy Bill! Thanks Jen for “Kickin’ it old school” and helping run the strip chute!! And Scott for arena directing!

The Squair family for supplying the cattle for roping & steer riding! And everything in between!

Our pick up men Riley Roth, Chad Thorson & Kyle Miller. Our gate man Uncle Chum! And the Bullfighter Zach Siegel. Little Johnny Routhier for helping crack gates and everything else inbetween!

The 2nd annual Billy McDonald Memorial Rodeo! Hosted by the Lac La Biche Agricultural Society. Rodeo action starts Friday at 6pm and Saturday at 7pm! Admission is $10! 7 and under free! There will be a kids scramble at intermission for the chance to win some great prizes!

We are approaching sale day for the Billy McDonald Bucking Horse Dispersal. If you are unable to attend in person, the sale will be available to view and bid online. If you intend on bidding online, and are not already registered on the VJV platform, I highly recommend you register before sale day.

Hello all,

I’m sure most of you have heard by now; we are having a complete herd dispersal (bucking horses, draft mares, draft studs, bucking horse studs, bred mares, 2 & 3 year old geldings and mares as well as coming yearlings.) We are sad to be closing this chapter in our lives. We can’t help but look back on all the years we spent rodeoing as a family fondly. We are extremely thankful for all the friendships we have made during the last 12+ years of running the Billy McDonald Open Rodeo Summer Series!

Dad started all of this just because he wanted to get some more horses bucked. But it turned into helping young riders and ropers get started. As the years went on we kept adding more events to help the young contestants get started. When we first started we only had jr barrel racing, novice horse riding & jr bull riding. Since then we have grown adding Jr breakaway roping, jr steer riding, mini bronc riding and P*e Wee barrel racing. Dad also wanted to give the women more than just Ladies barrel racing, we added Ladies breakaway roping and we also had added ladies ranch bronc riding at a few rodeos where there was interest in having them!

It became a lot more than just getting a few more horses bucked. It turned into creating rodeos the whole family could be involved in. Creating a welcoming environment where anyone could feel comfortable starting their rodeo careers in! We have met a lot of great people along the way!

Thank you to the committees we were blessed to work with! We had a great time working with all of you. A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, contestants, sponsors, rodeo personnel and spectators we simply could not do it without you!

Thank you to Lorraine & Billy’s adopted children! Over the years many have come and gone through the ranch helping us out along the way! You brought a lot of joy & laughter into our lives; the help around the ranch was a bonus!

We will be keeping the page active as we are planning the 2nd annual Billy McDonald Memorial Rodeo in Lac La Biche.

Thank you everyone for the years of friendship, and the support we have received during this difficult time in our lives. We hope to see you all somewhere along the trail.

Some really good bloodlines and good buckers. Anything from dummy horses you can take to futurities to proven horses that are ready to be hauled and used! Also bred mares; should start foaling in April/May. There will be online bidding available!
