As many people have probably seen, The Monarch's building as been sold. No I did not buy it, and yes the business will be moving out in a few short weeks. BUT before that happens, we have decided to REMOUNT "One Brief Shining Moment," a one-act comedy written by the EXCEPTIONAL Dyanna Jacklin that is a fabulous piece of theatre! We hope that those who shared in the beauty of it last year will come back and support our final farewell to the space and anyone who missed it will take this opportunity to support original property created in Huntsville!

As we move forward in this journey, REST ASSURED there is no plan to close the business or to stop creating. As artists we persevere through endless obstacles.

Personally, I have spent a lot of time battling the voices of being a failure because I have faced challenging times this year. Then I remember the shows that I have been a part of, the people I have worked with, and the magic that has been created. I remember everyone who believed in me and my work and I motivated to continue. I am so grateful for my family and community.

BRAND NEW Classes are starting again at The Monarch!

Dance classes are starting next week and filling up! We are also starting a men's musical theatre dance class on Tuesdays at 5:30pm starting June 14th!

A VERY exciting new class coming up is Scene Study with Jim Kelly starting June 15th at 6pm. An introductory class for ages 18 and over, Jim will take participants through steps on how to manage a cold read to getting a scene on its feet. Jim will discuss the actors perspective on scene work and the realities of working with others.

Don't forget we are offering youth programs this summer as well. Intensive week-long workshops designed to give our community youth the opportunity to work with professional artists and experience the many sides of theatre - from stage management and directing, to acting, singing and dancing. We'll even get a few words of wisdom on writing originals and adaptations.

Last 3 performances this weekend!!

The work that has been created in a matter of weeks is magical. Not only the feeling of live theatre being back but this show is exceptional.

MEET THE CAST OF RENT!

NIC MENCIA- ANGEL DUMOTT SCHUNARD- Nic is a graduate of Randolph College for the Performing Arts. Some of his favourite roles include Missy in the Ding D**g Girls and Henry in Next to Normal. other credits include; Once on this island, Annie, Moll, Peter Pan and 9 to 5. Nic is very excited to be joining the cast of RENT, and feels very privileged to get the opportunity to tell such an beautiful and important story!

Jillian Robinson is an actor/singer, originally from Windsor, ON, currently based in Toronto, ON. She is a graduate from the Sheridan College/University of Toronto Theatre and Drama Studies specialty program. Select credits include Rapunzel: The Family-Friendly Panto (TYT Theatre); Angels in America, The Laramie Project (Timber Beast Productions and littlewoodsmith); Oh, What A Lovely War!, Legally Blonde, The Rocky Horror Show (Hart House Theatre); The Paperbag Princess: The Musical (TBD Theatre Co.); The Merchant of Venice, Two Gentlemen of Verona, As You Like It, The Rover, The Man of Mode (Sweet Tea Shakespeare); Top Girls, 365 Days/365 Plays, Hamlet, The Cagebirds (Theatre Erindale). Jillian is the associate producer and digital media host for Cup of Hemlock Theatre. She is currently a theatre educator with North Toronto Theatre Arts, teaching and directing middle school and high school students in one-act plays, The _urloined Letter and Jack Straw. Jillian would like to thank her family, friends, the whole cast & crew, and especially Autumn Smith for their undying love and support throughout this process and beyond.
