What I love about these kits is that they give you everything you need to get started—just grab a pair of scissors! Once you’ve learned the basics, you can keep going with your own fabric, try larger rugs, or even explore making oval shapes.

I first started making these rugs because I wanted a hobby that would let me give old sheets a new purpose instead of seeing them thrown in the garbage. I’m not much of a sewer, and knitting needles aren’t really my thing, so this craft felt like a perfect fit.

There’s no sewing required, and when I first started, I was even using a homemade needle! Your fabric strips don’t have to be perfectly cut, and the process is very forgiving if you make a mistake.

For me, it became the perfect hobby—a relaxing, creative way to turn something old into something useful and beautiful. I hope it can be that for you, too. 💛

Friday evening and making more kits for the market at Salmonier nature park on Sunday. I had a bunch made but they didn't make it before Sunday :) now spending Friday night with a glass of w**e and making kits! See you Sunday open from 10am-3pm. Some of you may know this. Full time I am the owner of Tidy Solutions Drafting & Design which is now houseplanscanada.com I just want to post here in case you might need to know. Lately when clients email me images of houses they like they are sending A LOT of AI images. If you ever need custom house plans and you have someone designing it please be mindful of these AI images. For example:
- Many (most) of them do not make sense structurally wise. It is great for getting a image for siding, doors etc but structurally they do not work out in the way you see it. There are other programs out there that you can use rather then AI to achieve the same effect.
AI is very easy and just a few clicks of the buttons on your device but keep in mind of what it takes to use these programs:
- Electricity: Training AI and running it use power, which produces more greenhouse gases when supplied by coal or natural gas.
- Water: Some data centres use freshwater for cooling. This can put pressure on local supplies, especially in dry areas.
- Materials and waste: Making the computers requires mining and manufacturing, and replacing them creates electronic waste.

I am not here to preach to you not to use AI but I like to suggest you seek out other programs before choosing AI ! Cheers :)

I hope everyone had an amazing summer! ☀️

I was away on our pleasure boat for 5 weeks, and I’m only now getting back to real life on land! 😂⛵️

But I’m back, and I have some exciting news to share! 🎉

I have upgraded the toothbrush needles I use for making my Amish Toothbrush Knot Rag Rugs, and I am absolutely loving these new beautiful, colourful needles! 🌈

Even better, they are 3D printed right here by someone I had the pleasure of meeting! ❤️ I’m so excited to be able to offer these fun, colourful needles to all of you!

I've tried recruiting the dogs, but unfortunately their work ethic leaves a lot to be desired. They mostly supervise from a distance, take naps, and occasionally inspect the supplies. 🐶🐶

It's a lot of work putting these together, but I love knowing they're headed out for others to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who has supported my small business—it truly means so much. ❤️
