🏊‍♀️ Aquatics is almost ready to welcome you back!

The annual pool shutdown is wrapping up, and after five weeks of maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and facility improvements, the Aquatic Centre will reopen TOMORROW, October 10, with regular operating hours.

💦 The pools are filled.
🔧 Maintenance projects are nearing completion.
🧹 Cleaning and setup activities are in their final stages.
✅ Staff are preparing for reopening.

Over the past week, crews have been hard at work completing the final projects needed to prepare the Aquatic Centre for reopening. ✅ Anti-slip tiles have been installed, 💦 pool basins have been filled and balanced, 🔧 heat exchanger maintenance has been completed, and 🚪 door repairs have been finished. With deck cleaning, staff training, grouting, painting, and waxing now underway, the facility is entering the final stages of preparation as we get ready to welcome swimmers back.

A big thank you to our Aquatic and Facility Maintenance teams for their hard work throughout the shutdown, and to our users for their patience and understanding while this important work was completed.

🏊 Pool Shutdown Progress: Week 4 Update

The finish line is getting closer! The annual pool shutdown is entering its final week, and we're excited to share that water is back in the main pool as preparations for reopening continue. 💦

🔧 This week, we completed the following tasks:
✅ Rinsed all pool basins in preparation for filling
💦 Filled the main pool
📦 Cleaned and reorganized the on-deck storage rooms
⚙️ Reassembled and filled the sand vessels
✅ Installed a new main pool filter pump and a new variable frequency drive (VFD) for the main pool filter pump
🚪 Replaced and welded rusted door frames (still in progress)
🎨 Finished painting inside the changerooms and blue storage walls
🔨 Continued tile work throughout the facility

📅 With just one week remaining in the shutdown, we're looking forward to welcoming swimmers back when the Aquatic Centre reopens on October 10.

🏊 Pool Shutdown Progress: Week 3 Update

Steady progress is being made during the third week of the pool shutdown.
As a reminder, today (September 25) is the last day to claim lost-and-found items. After today, we will donate unclaimed lost-and-found items to the Share Shop.

Teams have been focused on equipment maintenance, facility improvements, and deep-cleaning projects to help ensure the Aquatic Centre is safe, clean, and ready to welcome users back.

🔧 This week, progress includes:
✅ Cleaned and inspected the remaining sand vessel parts for the hot tub and play pool
✅ Replaced acid lines and valves
🔨 Continued tile work throughout the pool and general painting in the changerooms
✅ Completed grouting in the hot tub
🧼 Removed all equipment and completed a deep clean of the acid room
🛠️ Organized and inspected all tools
📦 Organized and cleaned the pallet storage area

🏀🧗 While our teams continue their work behind the scenes, we encourage residents to take advantage of the other Recreation Centre amenities that remain open, including the bouldering wall, courts, and arenas 🥅

We're excited to welcome everyone back to the arenas as the 2026-27 ice season gets underway.

Regular scheduled arena programming begins 📅 Monday, September 28, but we're offering additional public ice opportunities from 📅September 25-27 so you can get on the ice early!

Whether you're looking for a public skate, stick & puck session, ringette practice, or adult drop-in hockey, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the ice this weekend.

🏊 Pool Shutdown Progress: Week 2 Update

The Aquatic and Facility Maintenance Service Areas have continued making great progress during the second week of Pool Shutdown. Staff have been focused on deep cleaning, preventive maintenance, inspections, and facility improvements to ensure the pool remains safe, clean, and ready for your return.

🔧 This week, we completed the following tasks:
✅ Deep cleaned and reorganized the water test room, chemical room, and pallet storage room
✅ Cleaned and inspected the mermaid filters and jackets (main pool filters)
✅ Cleaned and reorganized the
⚕️ Performed monthly AED inspections and deep cleans
🧯 Completed fire extinguisher inspections and deep cleans
🧼 Disinfected all garbage and recycling bins
🎨 Completed general painting around the facility
💦 Cleaned hot tub and play pool sand vessel parts
🔨 Continued ongoing tile work throughout the facility

💙 Thank you for your patience as we complete this essential work. Every task completed during shutdown helps maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic facility for our community.
