I posted something on my private account a few days ago. It was about how we will always find what we’re looking for. Or maybe not. Maybe we’ll find something much greater than that.
I got a message back from someone I care about, and they explained how they’d been searching for happiness for quite some time, but still hadn’t found it.
It brought back some lessons I’d learned personally throughout my own struggles with depression. President Nelson taught that “The joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives, and everything to do with the focus of our lives.” I firmly believe that when our focus is centred on Jesus Christ and His atonement, even the hardest struggles can become bearable.
I’m grateful for a Heavenly Father that loves us SO MUCH that He would let His only begotten Son die so that we can be cleansed from sin and overcome death. What a miracle it is that we will return to Heaven one day and be able to live with all our loved ones forever & ever & ever🤍

Coming up with colour pallets is always so fun for me! When I first started doing family portraits, I tried to copy the colours in the photos exactly, but I soon realized that there’s something beautiful and perfectly unique about bending the colours to compliment each other and reflect the kind of personalities I’m trying to illustrate. Grateful for for letting me paint her family and for loving a green colour pallet just as much as I do (probably more though...)

Sorry for the absence everyone! I’ve been learning more and more about the reality of being an artist and the struggles that come along with it. Losing motivation is a real problem. Sometimes I go in over my head with projects to do, and when it finally slows down I like to sit down there for a little too long. It’s too easy to find other projects to fill my time with, so I haven’t been pushing hard to pick up any more commissions. Long story short, we’re back and feeling better!! (P.S. this acrylic landscape is for sale! Message me for details) (P.P.S. Keep your eye on my page for some promos coming for Mother’s Day!)

The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea even a hair on the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame. (Alma 40:23)

Painting this was such an emotional and spiritual experience. It’s not every day you meet someone who has gone through the pain of 8 miscarriages, but this sweet family carries it well. I’m so touched by the hope and peace this family radiated and their firm testimony and conviction that their children are waiting for them. What a blessing it is for me to be able to get to know these sweet spirits on the other side every time I’m asked to pick up a paintbrush for them🤍

A little about this:
• This photo was compiled from a photo of the couple in front of the Calgary temple, but they wanted the Salt Lake temple added instead because they had visited there before.
• This couple is awesome. They are incredibly selfless and kind, and they are such great examples to everyone around them. I want to be just like them when I grow up!
• I painted this MONTHS ago... but I forgot to take a picture before I handed it over. But is that even a surprise?
