Without my partner this shop wouldn't be Lighthouse!!!!

Jess At Lighthouse is my wife and soon to be mother of our first child!!!
She comes from, beautiful Nova Scotia in the Pictou County area!!! New Glasgow..

The Lighthouse that many have seen either at our conventions we attend or you have been to our shop before?

I took that picture when I was there with her in her home..that Lighthouse was actually just across the road from her family's home. So I thought at the time I'd want that to be shared with. And now it's in our own studio space..

Lighthouse Studio wasn't built for us!!! It was built for you the clients who have been following us since we opened in Grande Prairie many years ago. We wanted a place that brings happiness and fun!! Like my old days when I was working at Raz's tattoo company..

Yes I was one of the original artists there.. (just one of them) but the traditions I learned there and what I learned being in LA and countless other provinces in Canada.. I want you to experience it as well.

"Tattoos ain't about Money"!!!!!!!!!!

It's about Art!!!!

And the culture that surrounds it.

When you walk in this week for the first time please bring yourself and your ideas with you. We encourage as many ideas as possible. Makes it fun when it's fun for you..

We crank our tunes and sometimes you see dancing and singing inside and we also encourage that as well.. "this is your studio and your time"

We are a private studio this time around.. so we do encourage to book ahead of time. We will make time for walk ins but you will need to message before coming.

She came down just to see me cleaning up the new space and so me she is here to support me..

Mom's are always there when you need them. Mine is my first visitor.

"Frustric toes" is what she called me growing up and once in awhile you still hear her call me that!!!! Lol (just not in front of Clients)

Grande Prairie I wanna have a day at the shop for Kevin Starr and his family. I wanna make it his day to say goodbye to his Lighthouse family he loved here.

Like I said before, When he would walk in it wasn't always for a tattoo!!! He actually came just to hang out!!! He loved the atmosphere and the ppl in the shop made him feel welcomed all the time. Always smiling and always ready to help.

That's whats gonna be hard when we open, and we're all asking, where's our friend. His smile and his laughter helped this shop grow and become what it was. I even offered to do some work on him for free at times and he always told me, NO wait till I get paid. And that was his way of saying he respected us i guess? He always paid and always tipped good..

I'd share more photos of him inside sitting at his usual spot in our shop but it will hurt me to much to see it. Cause that's how I wanna remember him. Sitting there with his smile waiting for it to be close enough for 8pm so he would run off to his meeting..

Once we are open we will make a day specially for his family. We will hang up a photo of him inside the shop and talk about him. That's the only way I know how to honor this kind man.

Today I go grab the keys and start moving in my things.. I wanna be set up for inspection next Tuesday!!! Than we can officially start taking on our first round of clients!!!!

Just a reminder.. Millys Birthday is on the 22nd of this month!!!!! We're gonna throw a big ass party again!!!

Who wants to party with us? Let us know so we know how much food to get...

And of course we will be doing $20.00 flash sales that day!!!!!! Who's excited for the reopening? I know we're super pumped to be back!!!!!

Let's have a 90's rewind party!!!!

Oilers game will be on as well that day.. we play the Hurricanes!!!!!

I'm gonna tell you all a story about this Guy Kevin Starr. The first day I met him he came into my shop around this time last year.

He told me his story battling addiction, he was happy being at Rising above and was happy at being in recovery. I grew to like him cause he was always stopping by our shop.

Not just for tattoos, He would stop in just to come watch a game with me or hang out with my wife. He Really loved being inside our shop.

He told me being in there made him happy. And feel like he had a place to just go to.

And yesterday we learned of his Passing!! He loved tattoos and had many done by us throughout his time hanging out with us.

I'm sorry your gone Brother from the bottom of my heart. You came into my shop with that smile and that was it. I knew you would always be around us.

From all of us down at Lighthouse Studio we loved getting to know you. You weren't just a client to us you were our friend.

When we closed the shop he was there to help us and even came for Thanksgiving last year inside the shop. So in your Honor Brother we will hang a photo of you in our shop so your still with us everyday hanging out.

RIP Kevin.
