This marks my first attempt at capturing the 2026 Milky Way season. The image was shot using my Canon HA astro-modified camera, which I am utilizing for the first time. The sky has been tracked, stacked, and blended with the foreground. The location is situated on the north side of Camden Lake in Enterprise. Notably, even at 2 a.m., the sounds of loons, beavers, ducks, and geese could be heard from the lake. With the Milkyway being low on the horizon it’s a hard place to shoot with the light pollution from Camden East and Napanee.

Last night’s clear, cool skies provided ideal conditions for me to observe the Andromeda galaxy through my telescope. This galaxy, also referred to as M31, is situated approximately 2.5 million light years away from Earth and measures 152,000 light years in width. Its visibility to the naked eye as a milky blur can be attributed to the presence of 1 trillion stars within the galaxy. The image presented here consists of 200 subs, each with an exposure time of 30 seconds, stacked together. I am optimistic that tonight’s clear skies will enable me to capture additional detail over the course of a couple of hours, ultimately resulting in a final image.
