Downed power line at Fire Station 50. Crews on scene.

Crews were working on the 24-hour station upgrade for Hammonds Plains Fire Station 50.
They had an accident that resulted in a downed power line, crossing Hammond Plains Rd.
Nova Scotia Power, Police and Fire all responded.
It was wrapped up around 1:45.
Unfortunate situation where this was an unplanned accident.

EDIT: Repair complete, roads are open.

Traffic Update 🚙🚛🚗🚌

Just a heads up for anyone heading through Hammonds Plains today. Traffic is currently slow moving toward Tantallon. The work that was causing delays this morning in front of St. Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Church appears to have moved farther along and is now affecting traffic in front of Hatfield Farm.

If you’re heading this way, you may want to allow a little extra travel time. Drive safe and thank you for your patience when visiting us here at HPE ☺️

No appointment needed. Drop-ins are always welcome! We welcome everyone from all communities to visit our main office at 52 Legends Ave., Millbrook, on August 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A valid form of identification that includes your name, date of birth, photo and signature; it must not be expired. You can also use multiple:
•A guarantor declaration if necessary.
•Any Legal documents relating to the guardianship or custody of a child (if applicable)
•To record a birth, parents named on the birth certificate need to be present and bring the original long form birth certificate and the parents' valid identification.

♻️ We’re Now an Official VEEV V**e Recycling Drop Off Location! ♻️

Have a used VEEV v**e or pod? Don’t throw it in the garbage, bring it to us instead!

Disposable and rechargeable v**es contain batteries and electronic components that shouldn’t end up in landfills. When they’re recycled properly, valuable materials can be recovered, waste is reduced and harmful substances are kept out of the environment.

Here’s how easy it is:
1. Save your used VEEV devices and pods.
2. Drop them off during our regular business hours.
♻️ We’ll make sure they’re sent for proper recycling!

Every device recycled is one less piece of electronic waste in our communities. It’s a small step that can make a big difference!
