LATIN DANCE AT STUDIO-G WITH CORNELL MANNINGS
Cornell has been teaching Latin Dance since 2000 and has taught well over 10,000 hours. He currently teaches at City Dance Corps in Toronto, and we are blessed to have him here in Hamilton now. He has represented Canada at the Miami and Puerto Rico Salsa Congresses, as well as the Montreal Salsa Convention. His students have won a combined total of ov
er 40 gold medals at DanceSport Canada (held annually in Montreal) and they have made several top ten finishes in various pro-am Salsa competitions. He has created over 100 choreographies for various competitions and Anniversary Balls, which are built to suit the strengths and talents of the students involved. Most importantly, people love Cornell’s classes because he is fun. and In his own words:
“Learning dance is a journey. In the beginning, of course we must understand timing and rhythm, as it relates to our steps and the music, but this does not simply mean understanding the count. As we progress, I teach my students how we associate our bodies with different beats in the music, how to move our bodies in ways to reflect each instrument. One key thing I always remember is that everyone learns in a different way. I do not believe in re-inventing the wheel, but in teaching every individual in the way that they learn best.”
