Parents often ask what children gain from choir.

The answer goes far beyond learning music.

Research has found that children who participate in choir show improvements in confidence, teamwork, communication, and social-emotional skills. Educators also report that choir participation supports language development and overall academic success.

We see those moments every week at HCC: children encouraging one another, taking on new challenges, finding their confidence, and building friendships that last well beyond a season.

Registration for the 2026–2027 season is now open. We'd love to welcome your family.

One week from today, Ilumini will take the stage for one final performance before departing for Macau.

Join us on Tuesday, August 18 at L.R. Wilson Concert Hall for YHM → MFM, our Send-Off Concert before the choir heads to the 2026 World Symposium on Choral Music.

Just a few days later, Ilumini will travel to Macau to represent Hamilton, Canada, and the Americas as one of only 11 choirs from around the world invited to perform.
This is your chance to hear the full program they'll present on the world stage, featuring music from Canada, Europe, and Asia.

For many of these choristers, this journey has been years in the making. We'd love to fill the hall with HCC families, alumni, friends, and our community as they perform this program one last time before leaving for Macau.

Every season looks a little different, but one thing stays the same: children come together each week, challenge themselves, support one another, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Registration for our 2026–2027 season is open now. We'd love to have you join us.

Singing in a choir is about so much more than just learning music.

It’s about finding your people, trying something new, growing in confidence, and being part of something bigger than yourself. Along the way, children build skills they’ll carry with them long after rehearsal is over.

At HCC, we’ve watched shy children find their voice, lifelong friendships begin, and young people discover just how much they’re capable of.

If you’ve been thinking about choir for your child, we’d love to meet you!

Did you know there’s an HCC program for almost every age?

Our youngest singers can start with Poka at just 18 months old, and from there, our programs continue right through to age 24.

For little ones, it starts with music, movement and singing together. As singers get older, they learn to read music, build their vocal skills, sing in harmony and take on more challenging repertoire and performances.

Some kids come to HCC already singing every chance they get. Others are trying choir for the first time. Both are welcome here.

Registration for September is open now!

Take a look at our Early Years, Junior Years and Senior Years programs and find the one that fits your singer.
