The goal of Academy of Imagination & Dramatic Arts | AiDa is to inspire creativity in kids & youth through dramatic arts, theater games, IMPROV, storytelling, voice, public speaking and creative writing to build life skills. AiDa inspires kids & youth improve their speaking, reading, writing while gaining respect and empathy for themselves, others, nature & the world around them. AiDa uses Dramatic Arts to build self-confidence, esteem, leadership skills, teamwork, critical thinking, mindfulness, problem-solving, self-discovery while exploring creative expression and stimulating the IMAGINATION. Offering award winning year round innovative programming with Artist in the Classroom, Drama and Creativity Workshops, Winter, March Break Camps, Summer Camps and POPUPS. AiDa is community building through partnerships with HWDSB, Hamilton Arts Council, Ontario and Hamilton Culture Days, HHA and youth initiative Mentor | Leaders in Training where secondary and post secondary students earn community service credit assisting with workshops and camps while gaining leadership skills, confidence and making a difference.

I am incredibly honoured and humbled to share that I have been shortlisted as a nominee for the 2026 City of Hamilton Arts Awards in the Creator Category.

This nomination is especially meaningful as it marks my 9th City of Hamilton Arts Awards nomination—a recognition I never take for granted.

To be acknowledged by a panel of respected arts professionals for my contribution to Hamilton’s arts and culture community is truly an honour. Through my work as an artist, educator, mentor, entrepreneur, and founder of AiDa | Academy of Imagination & Dramatic Arts, I have been privileged to witness the transformative power of creativity, confidence, connection, and community.

This year is particularly special as the City of Hamilton Arts Awards celebrates its 50th Anniversary, honouring five decades of artistic excellence, cultural leadership, and the individuals and organizations that have helped shape Hamilton’s creative identity.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey—my family, friends, students, colleagues, collaborators, supporters, and the incredible arts community that continues to inspire me every day.

Whether I receive the award or not, being shortlisted among such talented and dedicated creators is an achievement I cherish and a reminder that the arts matter.

Energy flows where attention goes.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the power of creativity—not just as an artistic practice, but as a way of living.

Creativity invites us to imagine possibilities, embrace curiosity, solve problems, and discover new paths forward. When we enter a state of flow, we become fully present. Time fades away, self-doubt softens, and we reconnect with our authentic selves.

💫 Creativity is where inspiration meets action.
💫 Flow is where purpose meets possibility.

These ideas inspired my book, Creativity and Flow: A Journal of Ideas and Inspiration—a reminder that creativity is not reserved for artists alone. It belongs to all of us. It is a powerful tool for growth, confidence, innovation, and self-discovery.

🎭✨ FEARLESS. ✨🎭

One word to describe this remarkable group of NSERC graduate students?

FEARLESS.

They stepped outside their comfort zones, embraced improv, took creative risks, and discovered that innovation often begins where certainty ends.

What a JOY to be invited back for a fourth year to facilitate a Creativity & Improv Workshop with the incredible trainees of the ContRoL CREATE and sMAP CREATE programs at McMaster University’s Faculty of Engineering.

Together we explored brainstorming, creative thinking, collaboration, diversity of thought, and how implicit bias can influence innovation and problem-solving.

Through creativity and improv-based experiences, participants strengthened communication and teamwork skills, challenged assumptions, explored new possibilities, and discovered practical tools that can be applied across research, academia, industry, and leadership.

💡 Innovation thrives when curiosity, creativity, diverse perspectives, and collaboration come together.

A heartfelt thank you to Todd H***e, Benjamin Whitworth, Delcia Aguiar, and the entire team for the invitation and continued partnership. It is always inspiring to work with such bright, talented, and engaged future leaders.

I left energized by the passion, intelligence, creativity, and courage of this exceptional group.
