We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of an extraordinary artist whose work brought together classical music, Indigenous traditions, improvisation, and storytelling with remarkable originality and power.
This summer, at our Lark Ascending by Candlelight concert (July 23), we are honoured to share Cris' powerful work Round Dance (2015) with our audiences and to celebrate the singular artistic voice she brought to the Canadian musical landscape.
Our Artistic Partner, , had the privilege of recently working with Cris with making this loss feel especially close within our artistic community.
Though gone far too soon, Cris’s music continues to create space for reflection, connection, and deeper listening. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, collaborators, and all those whose lives were touched by her artistry and spirit.
