I am vengeance, I am the night, I am… a variety of Batman games for the PS4! Yes we’ve got a quadruple set of Caped Crusader games hitting the shelves just in time for the weekend!

First if you want a more interactive story kind of gaming experience, give Batman the Telltale series a try. It is an episodic narrative driven adventure game, pretty much a Batman version of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series and that ends up working really well with Batman’s interrogating and investigating skills, really makes you feel like you’re experiencing the “World’s Greatest Detective” side of the Dark Knight. Do keep in mind with the Season Pass disc you do need to download the remaining episodes through the Playstation Store but they do still look to be up and available at the moment.

The other three we’ll just group together, it’s the complete Arkham trilogy with Return to Arkham including both the incredible Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games including all their DLC content and rounding out the series is Arkham Knight. While there is a bit of detective work and investigations taking place during these games, these lean way more into the pummeling and taking down of henchmen and eventually the squaring off against the incredible cast of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery including the likes of Mr Freeze, Harley-Quinn, The Scarecrow, Two-Face and of course the clown prince of crime himself, The Joker. Of course the crown jewel for this trio of games is that the legends Mark Hamill and the late, great Kevin Conroy voice the Joker and Batman in the Arkham series. So if you’re a The Animated Series fan, you know you’re getting some of the absolute best performances to ever grace the characters.

Got a mix of that Game Boy Color fix hitting the cabinets! While handheld versions of games usually have reduced features or overall quality these handheld versions are actually pretty darn good for what they manage to jampack into the cartridge… except for maybe one particularly ambitious one.

Mickey’s Speedway USA has all the hallmarks and quality you would expect from a Rare title, with great kart racing gameplay and classic Disney characters. Mario Golf just has that solid Camelot Software engine and mechanics that just make this a delightful experience. Street Fighter Alpha might be one of the best handheld fighters available at the time, maybe only rivaled by some of the chibi SNK fighting games if you can even find any of those.

Lastly GTA2 tries to jam pack the most of the criminal experience we loved from the PS1 into a handheld experience, but unfortunately clunky controls and some overall buggy quality does make it a bit a slog. That being said, it is still pretty damn impressive what they managed to fit into this game, just the overall ex*****on falls a little short. Definitely getting into that “for the diehards” kind of quality.

Well if you want your fix of WWE 2K19 wrasslin’ we’ve apparently got you covered on both the PS4 and Xbox One!

While the 2K-era of WWE wrestling games had their downs (we’ll get to that) they also had their ups and 2K19 is definitely one of them. With a fantastic roster including a bunch of unlockable legends like Andre the Giant, Bret the Hitman Hart, DDP and three different eras of Sting, the charming starting from the “hot dog and a handshake” indies all the way up to the WWE’s main roster Career Mode, the incredibly in-depth Universe mode where you call all the shots and rule over the shows and roster to put together incredible events and the heartfelt Showcase mode focused on the career highlights of one of the most beloved babyfaces of the modern era Daniel Bryan, there’s just so much damn content jam packed into one wrestling game for new and old fans alike.

However what goes up must come down and did the series ever fall down after this. WWE 2K20 is considered by many to be one of the worst wrestling games ever released, and was so disastrous that it caused 2K to skip ‘21 and jump straight to focusing on making ‘22 a better experience. This game is plagued with muddy controls, weird if not outright bad visual designs of the wrestlers, frequent glitches, bugs and overall poor performance. While it might be fun for some diehard to have in their collection as a study piece, we’re pretty sure we can’t recommend this one as a “so bad it’s good” kind of experience.

Also we went from no WWE 2K19 games in the shop to having three of them at the same time including the PS4 Deluxe Edition, so we decided to show off three covers of AJ Styles for the heck of it. Do keep in mind the deluxe edition content is a one time use DLC code which expired in 2019, but it does come with a very nifty embossed front cover :D

What better way to ring in a Sunday quite like the 3DS remake of the ‘97 classic Star Fox 64, and the Nintendo 2DS, with all the charm of the 3DS but with better ergonomics and none of the eye strain!

…That’s pretty much the post aside from the usual “each item sold separately” kind of ramble we do. Talk about your lazy Sundays am I right? :D

EDIT: The PS4 version has Sold.

D’ya like dags?

Well you don’t want to hesitate picking up a copy of Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition for either the PS4 or Xbox One! The base game is already an incredible tale of gritty crime and cop drama mixed with fantastic and intuitive martial arts combat, but the definitive editions ups the graphic resolution, tunes up the environmental lighting and weather effects and adds some new destructible environments to throw your opponents through.

It’s not just visual upgrades either, there’s over 21 different vehicle, outfit & combat packs included AND there’s three story expansions such as the weird and over the top stories Nightmare in Northpoint which has Wei squaring off with Jiangshi’s and other spooky enemies, or the clear homage to Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon with the Zodiac Tournament. The last story expansion is the Year of the Snake which takes place directly after the main story and has Wei and a fellow cop teaming up to try and stop a doomsday cult.

If you’ve never played Sleeping Dogs, or you just experienced it on the original 7th gen hardware, it’s definitely worth checking out the definitive editions.

Also if you play the Xbox version on a Series X you can use the systems FPS boost to up the frame rate from 30 to 60fps and you better believe that makes an already good game even better :D

We may have sold those 3 heavy hitters we posted last week pretty quickly, but those aren’t the only quality N64 games we’ve got!

Start the weekend off right with a great mix of classic N64 action like some 3D Pokemon battling in Stadium, a fantastic Mario Kart alternative in Diddy Kong Racing, one of the legends of wrestling games with WCW vs NWO Revenge, the arcadey CTE simulator NFL Blitz 2001 and all the rest! They’re hitting the shelves as we post this so pop on in and check ‘em out :D

Let the thunder roar as you take to the skies in one of the shoot’em up genre’s most iconic series, we’ve got not one but two different Raiden titles here in the shop!

We normally don’t go backwards like this but Raiden IV keeps the series going strong with crazy enemy fire and you returning the favor with even crazier weaponry and power ups. The graphics are the typical arcade quality you would expect, but the soundtrack is jam packed with high energy rock and blistering solos to keep you engaged… it’s so damn good that they even included a soundtrack disc along with the game! Also if you have an Xbox One or the Series X console this game is playable via backwards compatibility.

Ya know how we said “two” Raiden games? Well we kind of lied there cause Fighters Aces includes not one, not two, but three different Raiden games all on one disc! It includes Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2 Operation Hell Dive and Raiden Fighters Jet. So if one Raiden game just won’t do, then treat yourself to Aces and you’ve got a whole lot of awesome arcade action ready to go :D

Gonna toss this up right quick for a short shift Sunday! We’ve got a great mix of PS4 games hitting the shelves!

We’ve got David Cage and Quantic Dream’s Detroit Become Human which explores what it means to be human, conscious and can robots feel emotion. With 3 different playable characters and many branching story paths, it’s definitely worth checking out if you want a more cinematic style experience.

Next we’ve got Nier Automata which we have definitely hyped up plenty of times in the past. Just an incredible game pondering your very existence, meaning or meaninglessness of life and breaking cycles, all while wrapped up in a mix of hack and slash combat, bullet hell shooter with very charming characters and overall stylish presentation.

Last but not leastly it’s time to turn your brain off and smash some damn cars, it’s Burnout Paradise Remastered! This 360/PS3 era game took the classic Burnout style gameplay and tossed it into a big open world map. There’s plenty of secret areas to find, different types of racing events to partake in and one of the coolest features in a game, in order to unlock new cars in your garage you’ve gotta encounter it on the map and run that son of a gun off the road! Not only does this game have the Big Surf Island and extra cars all available but thanks to some smart moves at Criteron they actually redesigned the celebrity cars like the Delorean and the Ecto 1 to be license free so they might not “be” them, but they’re pretty darn close! …just don’t buy this game if you don’t like Guns n Roses’ Paradise City, you have to hear it every, single, time you start this game up.

We’re open till about 3-4ish pm today everybody, so swing on by soon if you want to add a game to your collection for yer day off :D

Getting ready to hit the green? HOLD IT!

You might have to make a tough decision with this one, cause this black label copy of Mario Golf Toadstool Tour right here is actually factory sealed! The only thing that we must point out is that there is a small 1-1/4 inch sized rip on the top back side of the case, which you can see in this nifty close up :D

So come on by and take a better look if ya want, whether you’re putting this 23 year old factory sealed game up on display, or being the first one to crack it open and enjoy some fantastic golfing by the dev team Camelot, we think a sealed copy will do the trick for both options.

Speaking of coming by, we do want to give you all a heads up that tomorrow Sunday the 11th we’re going to close the store up around 3-4pm depending on how dead it is. Thanksgiving Sunday tends to be a little on the slow side and we don’t want our celebratory TV dinners getting too cold ;D

But if you’re looking for a Sunday video game fix we hope you pop by early on and check out the wares :)

Got a double whammy of Hedgehog based games hitting the 360 shelf just in time for the weekend! We’re so hyped that we’re posting it before we have a chance to do Sonic Saturday’s or Sundays, we’re missing out on alliteration just for the sake of showing ‘em off :D

You can go with Sonic Unleashed which has the wonderful day and night stage mix. During the day you’re the regular blue blur Sonic tearing through stages at the speed of sound, but during the night it turns into a bit of a God of War style action game where you turn into a hulking Werehog and rampage through stages shredding through enemies with heavy hitting combos, grabs and air combos.

Or you can travel through the history of Sonic games with Sonic Generations! Each stage is from a different era of Sonic games, from the Genesis era with Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary, the Dreamcast era with Speed Highway and City Escape, or the Modern era with Crisis City and Rooftop Ruin. To make the stage variety even better you actually play each stage twice, first in a 2D Classic Sonic style and then you follow it up with the 3D Modern style with stuff like multi rail segments, drift boosting and turning enemies into scrap with the speed boost attack.

To make these games even better they’re both Backwards Compatible on the Xbox One lineup and the Series X console, and if you happen to play them on the Series X you can use the FPS Boost feature to bring them up from 30 to 60 fps. It sounds a bit hyperbolic but they almost feel like completely brand new games if you’ve ever experienced them on the original 6th & 7th gen.
