So much good stuff happening in ceramics this spring and summer and we can’t wait to get you in here to make ALL THE THINGS!!! I’ve been in a real maker rut since the start of the year and the only way I know how to dig myself out is just get into the studio and make something. So that’s what I’m going to do. And I can recommend to you - that if (for whatever reason / all the reasons the world can throw at us) you’ve been feeling like you need to spark something new -you should. You should try something new, go somewhere new, do something new. Because things are hard, but there’s goodness here and there’s joy to be found in community.

Classes - clubs - events are all on the calendar and ready for you.

The best part about teaching kids (for me anyway) is getting them to a place where they stop asking for permission to try something. There’s always a couple who right away understand that they can play when it comes to making art, but more often than not I get questions like: can I use a marker for this? Can I use yellow paper? Can I cut it like this? I know we’re only going into day two, but the kids have already heard my catch phrase a million times and are figuring out it’s more fun if we just trust our guts and go for it. They know I’m game for figuring something out with them if they’re curious about trying something completely different. So the questions I’m getting aren’t getting my go to response “why not?” as often, the questions are getting the response “let’s see!” - I’m a fan.

Camp is great. 10/10 highly recommend.

Camp is on! The arts 10-12s are going screen printing, colour mixing and block printing and the 7-9s are hard st work in the wobot factory. We still have lots of room in the rest of our camp weeks and lots of fun studio programs planned. This is maybe the most fun I’ve had running a camp week and it’s only day one. 🎉

The next intro to furniture making course is scheduled to start in September, which is a whole summer away… but it’s also half full already! A lot of our core courses; the intro courses that run throughout the year are really popular and the first set this fall are filling fast. Which we love! Thank you for registering and joining us at HCS to learn these new skills. We can’t wait to host you and get you started on your creative journey!
