We love connecting people with art that just feels like an extension of themselves… and we love receiving pictures from happy clients just as much!

It’s so meaningful to hear just how significant art is in creating an uplifting space, and how it can express people’s lives outside their homes 🌅

Can you guess whose studio this belongs to?! 🎨

See new pieces by Jill Charuk tomorrow at the launch of our abstract exhibition, Perspectives. We can’t wait to share these four new additions to the gallery with you all!

“Each painting contains an emotion that I am trying to convey, largely through the use of colour- how hot that day was, how cool the shadows were and how richly coloured the wildflowers were. All manner of roads, trails and paths, quirky buildings and the occasional dog intrigue me. On a grey day I enjoy buying a big bouquet of flowers, both for painting and filling up my studio. A successful painting is one where I captured the mood and shared the emotion. I wish for them to be arresting and yet restful.”

Through her art, Janice invites viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of our surroundings.“

Crown and Press is eager to share work from Hamilton-based wood artist, Chris Smith, for our upcoming abstract exhibition! Come give Chris a warm welcome to our collection at the opening reception for Perspectives this Saturday.

“Working exclusively with reclaimed wood collected over many years, he transforms discarded materials into contemporary works that celebrate pattern, texture, and form. Fascinated by repetition and structure, his practice continues to evolve through experimentation with new techniques and compositions, creating works that balance skilled craftsmanship with artistic discovery.“

We are delighted to have Mario Angel joining the collection at Crown and Press! Come witness Mario’s debut with the gallery this Saturday, for the opening reception of our Perspectives exhibition from 1-4pm.

“In the course of his six-decade-long career, Mario Angel has continually evolved as an artist. His latest venture, the Cosmic Conspiracy style, represents a groundbreaking exploration into new artistic dimensions. This avant-garde style blends elements of mysticism, cosmic symbolism, abstract and human expressionism, creating a visual language that captivates and challenges the viewer’s perceptions.”

We’re delighted to be featuring new pieces by Douglas Robinson for our upcoming abstracts exhibition, Perspectives!

Now only one week away from our grand opening, we can’t wait to share work from this amazing group of Canadian abstracts artists.

Here is a sneak peek at Douglas Robinson’s “Bubble Gum” series 🫧🎨

“My work is rooted in the language of pentimenti – the ghostly echoes and traces of change that lie beneath the surface of a painting. Each brushstroke is a response - sometimes a question, sometimes an answer. I paint every day with curiosity and a keen awareness of art as my mirror of existence. Each painting serves as an introspective map, layered with vulnerability, tension, serenity, and doubt.”

Crown and Press is thrilled to share the addition of Peter Kirkland to our collection, and soon making his debut with us at the upcoming Perspectives abstract exhibition.

We’re so eager to share Peter’s body of work with you, and his dimensional forms that demonstrate the beauty of disruption in the creative process within abstract art.

We’re can’t wait for you to join us for the opening reception of Perspectives on Saturday, May 30th (1 - 4pm). Be sure to see the exhibition while it’s on until June 27th!

“I routinely remove layers, either by erasing and blocking out with gesso in the drawings, or sanding in the paintings. These revisions are a deliberate disruption of the creative process, designed to force a rethinking of the image’s development by introducing elements beyond the artist’s control. Traces of the cancelled images usually persist, though, tracking the construction of the work through time and creating something of an internal narrative.”

Crown and Press is introducing Paige Ring to the gallery, and we couldn’t be more excited to platform her elegant abstracts for the Perspectives show! Paige Ring is a self-taught abstract expressionist painter living in Toronto with a background in fashion and costume design. Paige’s work is inspired by minimalism, aesthetically and functionally.

With the grand opening fast approaching, don’t forget to RSVP for the reception on Saturday, May 30th 1 - 4pm, and catch the discussion panel at 3pm!

“I work in mixed media, acrylic, oil and cold wax, soft pastel and even collage to create texture and depth. Although I use brushes, they aren’t my first tool of choice. I often reach for a palette knife, squeegee or another type of scraping tool. My inspiration comes from everywhere, but my drive to paint comes from the need to escape the realities of the world, to retreat into a playful, imaginary place where I can be less structured.”
