Canadian sports achievements aren’t limited to the soccer pitch.
In Quebec City, Canada’s women’s volleyball team defeated France in front of a record North American crowd during a Volleyball Nations League match.
It’s another clear sign that Canadian fans are turning out in force for sports that don’t always dominate the headlines. These moments are important because young athletes pay attention when their country shows support. Canada has far more inspiring sports stories than hockey alone.
Which Canadian women’s team do you think deserves more national recognition?

WHAT IF CANADA ASSEMBLED ITS NEXT FIGHTER JETS DOMESTICALLY?
Saab has confirmed that if Canada selects the Gripen, final assembly and testing would be carried out right here in Canada.
This could generate thousands of high-skilled aerospace jobs, give Canada greater sovereignty over maintenance and future upgrades, and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.
The idea becomes even more compelling: talks are ongoing about swapping the current U.S.-built engine for a Rolls-Royce engine produced in Montreal. That shift could create even more Canadian jobs while minimizing exposure to American export controls.
Given that Canada already boasts one of the world’s most advanced aerospace sectors, many Canadians are raising a straightforward question:
Should Canada’s next fighter jet prioritize Canadian jobs and industry first?

Prime Minister Mark Carney brushed aside President Donald Trump's recent comment suggesting Canada could become the 51st state, describing it as nothing more than a message from a highly active social media user.

"It's increased a lot in recent months," Carney said on Tuesday when referring to Trump's online activity. "We're not going to reply or react to every single thing he posts."

Carney made the remarks during a news conference in Montreal, where he was announcing significant federal infrastructure funding for Quebec. He was responding to a question about a post by U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra.

Hoekstra had shared on X a screenshot of Trump's message from the previous day on Truth Social. In it, the president wrote "51st state!" while reacting to a Bloomberg report on Canada's economy slipping into a technical recession.

This renewed talk from Trump about absorbing Canada comes while Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc is in Washington, D.C., working to renegotiate the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement ahead of its review on July 1.

LeBlanc told reporters in Washington on Tuesday evening that he remains "eternally optimistic" about reaching a new trilateral trade agreement.
Carney declined to comment on whether Trump's latest remarks were making the negotiations more difficult.

"It's an administration we must work with," he said. "It's our largest trading partner and our most important security partner. We work with this administration as it is."

🚨 SHOULD POLITICIANS BE ALLOWED TO SWITCH PARTIES? NDP PROPOSES A BAN! 🇨🇦🗳️

The debate over "floor-crossing" in Canadian politics has just reached a boiling point! NDP MP Don Davies has introduced a new bill that would force politicians who want to change political parties to face their constituents first.

Here is a breakdown of the proposal: 👇

📌 The Rule Change: Under the proposed bill, any Member of Parliament who wishes to join a new political party would be barred from doing so directly. They would have to first sit as an Independent and then contest and win a byelection under their new party banner.
📌 The Context: This legislative push comes after a recent, highly controversial wave of floor-crossings. In recent months, five MPs (four Conservatives and one New Democrat) defected to Prime Minister Mark Carney's Liberal caucus, helping the Liberals quietly secure a majority government without a general election.
📌 The Argument: The NDP argues that voters elect a political "package" that includes the party, leader, and platform. Davies stated that MPs switching sides without voter approval is "inherently undemocratic" and shifts the balance of power through backroom deals rather than at the ballot box. 🏛️

On the other side of the aisle, MPs who have crossed the floor argue that Canadians elect individuals, not just parties, and that they must be free to make decisions that best represent their riding's interests.

What do you think? Should politicians be allowed to switch parties mid-term, or should they have to resign and prove they still have their voters' support?

Serving Canada demands sacrifice not only from soldiers, but also from their spouses, children, parents, and entire families. These families endure deployments, frequent relocations, constant stress, uncertainty, and prolonged separations. They quietly carry a heavy share of the burden, often without the recognition they deserve. If Canada calls on individuals to serve, it must also stand behind and support the families who support them. Do military families deserve greater national support?

🚨 Big move from Ottawa.

Canada has formally requested the renewal and review of the North American free trade agreement, kicking off a process that could influence the future of trade across the continent.

The stakes are enormous: North American trade supports millions of jobs and drives significant economic growth. Canadian officials say the review is an opportunity to strengthen the agreement and ensure it continues to work for Canadian businesses and workers.

As negotiations approach, all eyes will be on how the U.S., Mexico, and Canada navigate one of the world’s largest trading partnerships.

Canada is taking a major step forward in strengthening its Arctic ties with Greenland.

At just 22 years old, Greenlandic MP Nivi Rosing is playing a key role in deepening collaboration through culture, education, trade, and shared Northern priorities. The opening of Canada’s new consulate in Nuuk on February 6, 2026, represents a significant milestone in this growing partnership.

With Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and Governor General Mary Simon present for the flag-raising ceremony, the move highlights a commitment to working together on common Arctic challenges and opportunities.

As the world turns its focus northward, Canada and Greenland are building stronger links to support resilience, self-determination, and a prosperous future for the region.

What do you think should Canada and Greenland continue expanding their partnership?

Are Canadians losing their enthusiasm for U.S. travel?

For generations, crossing the border for shopping sprees, vacations, concerts, and quick weekend escapes has been a beloved Canadian tradition. However, that pattern appears to be shifting.

Factors like rising costs, a weaker Canadian dollar, political differences, frustrating border delays, and a desire to support domestic tourism are prompting many to travel south less frequently.

Instead, more people are choosing to explore Canada’s own diverse landscapes from mountains to oceans and keeping their travel spending within the country.
What about you?

Are you traveling to the U.S. less these days, or do you feel this trend is being overstated?

More Canadians are rethinking their travel plans to the United States, and the shift is gaining momentum.

Recent data reveals that returns from the U.S. declined once again in March 2026 marking the 15th consecutive month of falling numbers. Air travel has been hit particularly hard as many Canadians opt for alternative destinations.

While some are avoiding the U.S. for political reasons, others cite:
• Increasing travel expenses
• Safety worries
• Lengthy border wait times
• Or simply a desire for fresh experiences

As a result, many are choosing vacations in Europe, Mexico, Asia, or discovering more of Canada’s own backyard.

That said, plenty of Canadians still enjoy heading south for shopping, sports events, beaches, entertainment, and family visits.
What about you?

Are you currently skipping trips to the U.S., or do you still plan to visit?
