Halifax Cape Breton Dances A page to promote the Cape Breton Charitable Association's Halifax Dances which run September-April, on the last Saturday of the month. Admission is $10.

A page to promote the Cape Breton Charitable Association's Halifax Dances which run September-May, on the last Saturday of the month, currently being held at the Shriner's Hall on Connolly Street. These are adult dances, 19+, which run from 9:30pm-12:30am. A cash bar is available, and there is a 50/50 draw during the evening. A fiddler and pianist provide the music for the square sets each month. The group also puts on family dances in Halifax, approx. 3-4 times a year.

The fourth recipient is Sophie Jones-Gallant.

Sophie was unable to be at the dance on Sunday so the presentation took place today (May 23) in Halifax when she was in town.

Congratulations to Sophie Jones-Gallant (daughter of Pamela Jones-Gallant) for being selected to receive a $75 Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax 2026 student bursary.

On May 23, Sophie was presented with the $75 bursary cheque for Amy Swenson (fiddle instructor) along with a certificate of the recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax for Sophie's achievements in her music and by continuing in taking fiddle lessons.

This certificate is presented to Sophie in memory of the late Anna Melski. ( Anna contributed to the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax as president and produced and the host of many lively and entertaining Cape Breton Ceilidhs on Dartmouth Community Television in the 1980's and early 1990's).

The third recipient was Kinsey Lynn Fader.

Congratulations to Kinsey Lynn Fader (daughter of Laura and Shawn Fader) for been selected to receive a $75 Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax 2026 student bursary.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the Cape Breton All Ages Dance and Ceilidh at the Fairview Legion she was presented with a $75 Bursary cheque to Malcolm MacNeil (piano instructor) along with a certificate of recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax for Kinsey Lynn’s achievements in music and her desire to continue with piano lessons.

This certificate was presented to Kinsey Lynn in honour of Willena Campbell (Willena contributed to the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax as secretary, president and director and in many other ways for over twenty five years.)

On Sunday , May 10, 2026 at the Cape Breton All Ages Dance and Ceilidh at the Fairview Legion , she was presented with a $75 Bursary cheque to Wendy MacIsaac (fiddle instructor) along with a certificate of recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax for Ella Jo's achievements in music and by continuing in taking fiddle lessons.

This certificate was presented to Ella Jo in memory of the late Les MacKinnon (Les contributed to the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax as Vice President and Cape Breton Adult Dance Chairperson together with his wife Anna Fiander for many years.)

At the May All Ages Dance and Ceilidh, four youth were presented with bursaries to continue their studies in music and dance.

The first recipient is Rebecca Brown. Congratulations to Rebecca (daughter of Kate Brown) on being selected to receive a $75 Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax 2026 student bursary.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the Cape Breton All Ages Dance and Ceilidh at the Fairview Legion she was presented with a $75 Bursary cheque to The McCorkell Academy of Highland Dance along with a certificate in recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax for Rebecca's achievements in Highland Dance and her desire to continue with dance lessons.

This certificate was presented to Rebecca in memory of the late Anna Fiander (Anna contributed to the Cape Breton Charitable Association of Halifax as treasurer, membership chairperson and helped run the Cape Breton Adult Dances with her husband Les Mac Kinnon for many years).

A black zip up sweater (tanjay brand) was left behind at the Fairview Legion on Saturday April 25. It has jewels at end of drawstring at collar. Velour- like material.
