King's Theatrical Society The King’s Theatrical Society (KTS) is a student-run community theatre organization in Halifax.

The King’s Theatrical Society (KTS) is a student-run drama organization working out of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. One of the oldest theatrical societies in North America, it is also the largest per capita campus society of its kind on the continent.Each year, based on what's pitched by local and student artists, the KTS puts up commercial plays, musicals, original student-written work

s, and experimental pieces. Its two principal venues, the Pit and Red Room, have housed and supported dance collectives, comedians, and theatre companies from all over Atlantic Canada.The KTS executive:

The KTS is inviting YOU to The 2024 Blue Canoes! The Blue Canoes are an annual (pre-pandemic) celebration and awards show to round off each incredible year of theatre at King's. This year's event will be April 1st from 8-late in the Wardroom and is wedding themed!! We encourage you to show up in your best formal wedding attire for a fun evening featuring cake, themed cocktails, at least one marriage, and certainly some blue canoes! You do not have to be a KTS member to attend, but we would love to see everyone who was involved in this year's shows there :) The awards show will commence at around 9 pm.

Tom Stoppard’s 1993 play Arcadia, directed by Sadie Quinn, moves between the 19th century and the present day in an English country mansion and explores everything from the heat death of the universe to Lord Byron’s s*x scandals. This is the KTS's only production this Winter Season and you don't want to miss it!

Shows are Thursday March 21st, Friday March 22nd and Saturday March 23rd at 7:30pm, as well as a matinee performance Saturday at 2:00pm. All shows take place in the KTS Pit Theatre, accessible through the King's A&A building.

For 7:30pm shows, house doors open at 7:00pm. For the 2:00pm show, house doors open 1:30pm.

Reserve tickets on ticketleap (link in bio) and pay in cash at the door before the show! Tickets are $10 for King's/Dal students and $15 for non-students! A limited number of rush tickets will also be available at the box office.

Since the University is closed tomorrow due to the severe weather, we have had to postpone the first night of Infringement Festival. King's 2024 Infringement Festival will feature a number of short pieces written, starring, and directed by students!!!

Performances February 5th at 6:00 pm, 6:40 pm, and 7:20 pm in the Women's Washroom in the NAB basement and February 6th-9th at 7:30 pm in The Pit.

The performance of "SOJU" on the first night of Infringement takes place in the Women's Washroom on the lower level of the New Academic Building (in the King's Coop Bookstore) at the University of King's College. The performance will run for approximately 30 minutes. Guests are asked to take note of their performance time and gather outside the bookstore no earlier than ten minutes before the start of the show.

Due to limited capacity and the unorthodox theatre space, "SOJU" is a standing-only performance. If you require a chair, you MUST email [email protected] in advance of the performance.

The show on Nights 2-5 of Infringement takes place in The Pit in the Arts & Administration Building at the University of King's College. The show will run for approximately one hour and feature 2-3 performances each night. Doors will open at 7:00 pm.

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for general admission. You can reserve online and must pay in cash at the door.

A number of tickets for each performance are reserved as rush tickets, and will be available at the box office on the day of the show.

Auditions are open for the KTS’s Winter production of ARCADIA, written by Tom Stoppard and directed by Sadie Quinn!

Auditions will be held on Jan. 27 from 1-4 pm and Jan. 28 from 10 am-3 pm (location TBA). The sign up sheet will be posted in the next couple of days on the bulletin board outside Prince Hall. Send us a message if you can’t make it to the A&A to sign up this week.

You may prepare a short monologue for your audition if you wish, but we will have cold reads from the play.

The King's Theatrical Society Presents 'ART', written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, and directed by Colin Hutchison.
