We’re looking for new members!

Being a part of the Bus Stop Theatre Playwrights Unit gives writers an opportunity to hear their work out loud, receive feedback, and adhere to monthly deadlines. We also put on short play nights every few months, which provide low-pressure, satisfying creative work for everyone involved.

If you currently write scripts, or if you write something else but are intrigued by the idea of making actors say the words you write, please apply to [email protected] by March 7th, 2018 with the following:

1. A statement of interest (what you would love to get out of the experience)
2. The idea for the play you would like to develop within the Unit
3. Your Theatre/Writing CV

Submissions from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences are highly encouraged.

Halifax playwright Meghan Hubley's meditative, poetic TreeGirl, about emotions around death, grieving and the pain of living runs for three shows in a Forerunner Playwrights' Theatre production this weekend in the Dunn Theatre as part of Eastern Front Theatre's Stages Theatre Festival.

Laura Caitlin won Pitch It last year with her script, Mad Ones. Here is what she has to say about the experience:
"The Stages Pitch-It event was a fabulous experience for me. As a beginning playwright, it allowed me the opportunity to refine my play idea, and to get feedback from professionals and peers. It led me to ask some important questions about what my characters are trying to say, and why a period story can be relevant now. I highly recommend this event – both to writers, and to people who are curious about having a look inside the creative process. And it has certainly been a gift to have Eastern Front Theatre’s support and encouragement in moving forward. It has really made a difference in the still-evolving life of Mad Ones."
